These Red Dragon Gloves were designed for synthetic trainers, however they have been becoming increasingly popular for sidesword, saber, broadsword, and arming sword sparring. These are not indestructible, and we would like to recommend that they are used with fingertip protectors. Please use these in controlled sparring environments as they are only considered as ”medium” protection gloves.
Steel trainers can still hit in between the padding, so please use at your own risk.
Like any other sport equipment, these will need to be replaced over time.

We recommend using our HGC Fingertip protectors along with the Red Dragons at all time, we also recommend modifying the gloves using the picture below as reference.

For those who don't know them, such gloves have been for many years around the community, more than the majority of the models that you can find around. Red Dragon are an adequate protection to use with sabers, arming swords and side-swords, not for rapier or longsword.
The Red Dragon gloves cause always a debate: there are many fans and detractors of such piece of equipment.
The detractors call for the low protection that they offer, but those who speak always offer alternatives that in my opinion are less safe.
Indeed, Red Dragon has some flaws BUT it is made in a type of fabric that can be adjusted by the user to increase the protection, something that other gloves in the market do not allow due to their design.
1) The first thing you must do is to get a set of finger tips to add inside the gloves. See picture below. You can get them in HEMA Gear Canada https://www.hemagearcanada.com/.../hgc-fingertip-protectors
2) The second big flaw is the big open gap in the base of the palm, exposing all your circulatory system to be damaged by the opponents thrust. That can be solved with a rigid Yoga Mat well sewn to it. Beware that it should go OVER the sleeve of your jacket, to prevent having blades entering inside of it (as I experienced).
3) The external strap, where it's written 'Red Dragon', does not offer extra protection. In any case it is an obstacle that you will find many swords entangling in it, either the blades or quillons.
These gloves are really a good piece to consider and probably the best money-value ratio in the market. No, they are not the best and they are not infalible, as nothing is. But if you have limited budget this is your way to go.
I have been practicing HEMA for 14 years now, tried many gloves and many swords. 3 broken fingers and 1 spliced knuckle taught me good lessons. Be safe, be kind.

Great bone for all dogs!!
I loved this bone! See my use of past tense 😂 I am so sad I bought this for my very destructive yorkie/shitzhu mix and he loved it so much! He was so at peace with it. I am sad to say that after having it for about a week or two it disappeared. I never let my dog go outside with it and I have tore my house to PIECES in search of it. He really misses it, I think I miss it more for him I can only hope this company will be having more available in the near future. This is a great bone for all dogs in my opinion. I managed to get my friends to even buy one for their dogs and the of course are just as pleased. Well until we can purchase another I will leave a great review regardless. Thanks Willie Bones for saving me and my dog

Was skeptical but my pup loves it
My dog is a heavy chewer but normally likes stuffed animals and tasty chews. I’m always trying to find something to occupy him that doesn’t fall apart. I didn’t think he would like a rubber toy but I was wrong. What I like about this bone is that it’s actually a “pretty” toy and it has a big hole through the middle that you can put treats/peanut butter inside. The hole is also good because the toy has a little “give” which makes it easier for my dog to chew on it. And though I can see teeth marks all over the rubber, pup hasn’t managed to destroy it after a week. He even loves to play tug with it. It’s a good quality toy.

Wish their was a smaller size!
We have an 8 lb mini doxie and took a chance on this bone since it's "one size" and there's a dachshund in the logo. It took some warming up to, but our little guy is able to carry this around and chew on it. However, it is pretty dense and heavy material and we definitely would've preferred if there was a smaller size to get for him. I'm scared to throw it for him, because it could really do some damage if it hit him. However, it works as a chew toy in his bed and hasn't shown any signs of wear yet.

Great toy - just not for my Olde English Bulldog
This product is high quality and says "Almost indestructible", so I'm definitely not upset....but it lasted less than 30 minutes with my Olde English Bulldog. I mostly want to leave a comment if other bulldog owners search they'll know it's just not tough enough for their crazy strong chewing. He literally wrecks EVERYTHING but really loves to play and chew on things.

Not Indestructible To My Dog. Do NOT recommend for aggressive chewers
My 11 month old Jack Russell Rat Terrier literally chews EVERYTHING. Finding toys for her other than the very few Kong extreme toys they make has been a real challenge. I bought this bone hoping that it would be atleast somewhat indestructible and that shed be able to chew on it for longer than 5 minutes. Well shes had it for about 15 minutes now and theres already a chunk missing so not to thrilled about that. Hopefully it will last atleast the rest of the day. I gave this product a 3 star review for a few reasons: One I would say this product would be great for a slight to moderate chewer but with my dogs pirana teeth and jaws of steel this bone has been no match for her. My dog chews and chews until theres the smallest piece of toy hanging off or an indent big enough for her to start ripping pieces off so this did not work for her. The product is also made nicely it is thick so no worries about teeth puncturing through it. I also liked that the ends are smooth so no worry of my dog eating it from the holes at the end because shes done tbat with many toys.
