Laxmi Kamal (botanical name: Graptopetalum macdougallii or Echeveria ‘Laxmi Kamal’) is a succulent plant known for its beautiful rosette-shaped leaves.
It is very popular in India, both for its ornamental value and its association with prosperity and good luck — “Laxmi” refers to the goddess of wealth, and “Kamal” means lotus, reflecting its lotus-like leaf arrangement.
🌿 Appearance
- Leaves: Fleshy, smooth, and arranged in a rosette. Colors vary from green to pinkish-purple, depending on sunlight exposure.
- Size: Usually small to medium (around 5–10 cm in diameter).
- Flowers: Produces tiny, star-shaped pink or white flowers.
🌤️ How to Plant and Care for Laxmi Kamal (Bare Rooted)
- Let it rest: After unboxing, let the plant air out for 1–2 days in a shaded, dry area to let any root cuts heal.
- Prepare soil: Use a well-draining succulent mix (like 50% sand/perlite + 50% cactus soil).
- Planting: Place the roots in the soil, and don’t water immediately — wait 3–5 days.
- Watering: Water sparingly — only when the soil is completely dry.
- Light: Prefers bright indirect sunlight or a few hours of morning sun.
- Temperature: Thrives in warm, dry climates (avoid frost or overwatering).
