A celebration of new growth and natural beauty.

"Leaves in a Jar" is a refreshing original oil painting that captures the simple joy of plant propagation. The artwork features variegated green and yellow pothos cuttings placed in a charming, clear glass jar with a gold wire handle. The transparency of the glass is masterfully rendered, revealing the submerged stems and the play of light through the water. The vibrant greenery stands out beautifully against a soft, dreamy background of pastel pink, lavender, and blue brushstrokes, while the jar casts a distinct cool blue shadow that adds depth to the composition.

Painted on a hand-primed cradled wood canvas, the piece radiates organic energy. Alai’s signature impasto brushwork mimics the waxy texture of the leaves and the shimmering reflections on the glass, making a humble botanical experiment feel like a precious jewel. It’s the perfect piece for plant lovers, bringing a permanent touch of spring to any room.

Why this original brings life to your wall:

  • Botanical Freshness: The vibrant greens and the theme of propagation symbolize growth and life, adding a revitalizing energy to your space.
  • Masterful Transparency: The rendering of the glass jar and the distortion of the stems underwater showcases a skilled handling of light and reflection.
  • Soft vs. Bold: The bold, saturated leaves contrast harmoniously with the gentle, airy pastel tones of the background.

Fun Way to Teach Manners
Format: Hardcover
This book was one I read to my daughters when they were young and I am now reading it to my grandsons. I plan to read it to my fourth grade class, as well.

... over with my 3yo and 5yo boys but they loved it!
Format: Hardcover
I wasn't sure how this would go over with my 3yo and 5yo boys but they loved it!! They always enjoy pulling it out and now I can refer back to the characters to remind them of their manners in a more positive way. The only thing is I kinda wish they had used a different animal than pig, since for some reason I don't like saying "don't be like the pigs" (since I don't really want them calling eachother or other kids pigs). But so far it has been fine :) It's also very nice they included "Be kind to animals, they have feelings too." We say that all the time around here since we have kitties. Also the part about table manners is great since we had already been teaching the kids to ask before being excused from the table.

Manners Can Be Fun
Format: Hardcover
What a cute book! I bought it for my 2 and 3 year old boys. We are attempting to teach them simple, common manners in a fun way and they love learning through books. Manners Can Be Fun presents manners in a simple, easy to understand, engaging way. The boys enjoy reading this book and it's a great way to have positive conversations about specific situations they experience daily like sharing toys, picking up after themselves, whining, meal time. It's a fun book!

Wonderful, simple book for children of all ages
Format: Hardcover
I am 65 years old and this was one of my first books. The revisions along the way have not changed the drawings that much. It is simple, but well illustrated, and gives a basic idea of good manners. I recommend it for every child - it makes them think about behavior. The way the author demonstrates "me first" and "whinney" have stuck with me all these years.

Great for encouraging speech
Format: Board book
I rarely write reviews but I just had to share my experience with this book. I have two year old twins. One has a diagnosed speech delay. They both love this book and are excited to read it. It has simple pictures that are easy for them to recognize and picture everyday things. They both love imitating the sounds. I think it’s a great for speech therapy for toddlers. Definitely recommend.
