Issued by the USPS on May 23, 1988, these stamps commemorate the 200th anniversary of South Carolina becoming the 8th state of the United States. The image of the palm tree was chosen to represent the state's distinctive landscape. 

This stamp is part of a series honoring the 200th statehood anniversaries of the first 13 US states. The stamp design was created by renowned artist Bob Timberlake, who submitted three beautiful watercolor and gouache paintings. One featured the state flower (jasmine), another a live oak tree, and the third, three palmettos (the state tree) surrounded by sea oats. The palmettos were ultimately chosen for their instant recognition with South Carolina. 

The First Day ceremony for this stamp took place in the House of Representatives chamber of the South Carolina state capitol building in Columbia. This stamp is not only a tribute to the state's history, but also showcases its beautiful natural scenery. GUMMED STAMPS: These postage stamps have a traditional moisture-activated gum on the back. These stamps require licking or wetting to adhere to envelopes or other surfaces. To ensure good adhesion, apply vintage gummed stamps to your mailings with a glue stick (we recommend using Elmer's "Re-Stick" glue sticks).

GENUINE USPS POSTAGE: These unused vintage postage stamps are perfectly valid for use as current postage for mailing with USPS as long as you use the adequate amount of additional postage to achieve standard postage rates according to the weight of your mailing. That said, it is much slower than a standard electric can opener, and you have no idea where it's cutting. Now I started on the first letter on the product's label, and pay attention to when the circle is complete. Press the "on" button a second time and it goes backwards for a few seconds. Done! Use the attached magnet to pull off the lid. I'm thinking of buying a second one. Also, I very much like that it uses standard batteries, nothing weird to look for. Well done!

Opener leaves wire threads on the rim of the can when opening. Poses a danger if ingested.

Purchased this item hoping it would make opening cans easier (I have osteoarthritis in my hands). First time I tried it, after it rounded the lid of a can of DelMonte green beans, nothing. I reseated it, and held it down when it started. It opened the can after circling the top two times. When I took the lid off the can, there were tiny wire "threads" stuck on the can, and more stuck on the Kitchen Mama opener. I was able to very carefully wipe the wire threads off and pour the can of beans into my pan. HOWEVER, I will not use this product again. Who wants to run the risk of ingesting wire threads?!!! I would return the product for a refund, but my husband destroyed the box opening it, so this will go into the garbage. I wouldn't sell at a garage sale or donate it, because someone else might ingest the wire threads, and then Kitchen Mama would have a lawsuit on their hands I wouldn't have given ANY stars, but you have to give at least one to write a review.

Really? (A photo that I could not provide because it had broken days earlier and I threw it in the trash, who hoards broken appliances?). I really expected better from a ‘reputable’ brand.
