Just magnificent! Licuala grandis, or the Vanuatu Ruffled Fan Palm is many people's favourite palm of all time. Well-known for its large, circular, undivided, and closely pleated leaves, this Licuala makes for a stunning indoor plant, even in NZ conditions provided you can keep it away from cold drafts. 

In the tropics it can be planted in sun or full shade but should be out of the wind. In hot, dry regions a shaded spot is best. It is originally native to disturbed or secondary forests on San Cristobal and the Santa Cruz Islands (part of the Solomon Islands) and throughout most of Vanuatu the South West Pacific. But these days it is almost ubiquitous in hotel foyers throughout the tropical world, and for good reason. It is show-stoppingly beautiful and with its undivided pleated fan leaves it is very unlike most other palms.

A tropical dream. Limited stock. These are now well-established plants between 2 -3 years of age. If you have somewhere consistently warm and with good light (but not direct sun) then you'll find it way easier than you'd imagine!
