Aloe striata subsp. karasbergensis, known for its appealing rusty brown to bronze leaf color and symmetrical leaf crowns, is a stemless succulent that grows to 2-3 feet tall and wide. With soft leaves, small marginal teeth, and ornamental striations, it forms rosettes that may clump over time. The plant features broad, rigid to fleshy leaves with pale blue-green to greyish-yellow hues, capable of enduring harsh conditions by turning reddish to protect against UV rays and heat stress. Flowering occurs multiple times a year, mainly in mid to late winter, with dense pyramidal inflorescences bearing dark pink to red tubular flowers. Originating from the arid Great Karasberg Range in South Africa and Namibia, it thrives in desert to semi-desert conditions, often sheltered among boulders and rocky slopes. Cultivation in California is favorable, preferring some shade in extreme heat and well-drained soil to avoid rot. While tolerant of heat, over-irrigation can lead to leaf splitting. Hardy to around 20F in dry soils, it suits Mediterranean-type climates and is suitable for pot culture or dry gardens, adding aesthetic value with its striking foliage and adaptability to various environments.

This plant has been grown in a 4" pot. You will receive a very similar plant to the one in the picture. The plant is shipped "dry-root" (with out soil).

An Essential
Format: Paperback
I've created PowerPoints for executives in major corporations and national non-profits for years now, and this is one of the first books I suggest anyone who needs to create their own PowerPoint look to. Beyond Bullet points is accessable enough that the novice PowerPoint user can understand what's going on and use the lessons in his or her next presentation; it's also detailed and challenging enough that even an old salt like me can find things to learn and do. Don't be another person who stands on stage reading their PowerPoint, and don't let reading your slides distract the audience from your presentation; follow the suggestions in this book and wow your audience.

Bad book for SOA exam, but oh well.
Format: Paperback
While required by Society of Actuaries as the textbook for Short Term Actuarial Models exam, I could not recommend this textbook for any other purposes. Written by two Canadian actuaries, a lot of terms and explanations used in this textbook cannot be transferred into US P&C insurance. It fails to explains insurance's purpose and products effectively and as an intro book with unnecessary sentences to deliver personal thoughts. It is also a mess in following sections on ratemaking and reserving. I cannot sense a flow from this book that guides readers in an approachable manner. Overall, author compromises the size AND the quality.
