Alpine Strawberry (Fragaria vesca var. vesca), also known as Fraises des Bois or Woodland Strawberry, has white flowers and small, very flavorful crimson berries throughout the season. Thomas Jefferson sowed three rows of Alpine Strawberry seeds on March 31, 1774. In a letter to James Monroe some twenty years later, Jefferson included Alpine Strawberries as one of the "three objects which you should endeavor to enrich our country with." This European wildflower makes a compact, mounded plant that spreads by runners. Jefferson-documented: Alpine Strawberries were documented by Thomas Jefferson in his Garden Book, Notes on the State of Virginia, or other writings.

Sow strawberry seeds indoors 8-12 weeks before last frost date at 60˚F; may take up to 4 weeks to germinate. Transplant Alpine Strawberries to 3" pots once they have several true leaves, then harden off and plant outdoors after last frost in fertile, well-drained soil with consistent moisture. Approximately 50-60 strawberry seeds per packet.

Alpine strawberries (Fragaria vesca var. vesca) are smaller-fruited than standard types but they have a very distinct flavor and make an excellent ground cover in the yard and garden. Alpine strawberries are prettier than the large modern garden varieties, with small white flowers and fruit often held above the leaves.

Total waste of money
I wouldnt give it one star but had to to leave a review. Just got these balls September 8, 2025. As of today we are on our third ball, September 13. My dog only used in field for fetch. He never layed down and chewed on it. The inside of the balls came apart. I pulled off felt to show where. The ball is otherwise intact. Never had this happen to any ball I ever bought. I researched and looked for good reviews even off Amazon because my dog is a border collie and loves to fetch. This is a huge waste of of money and bad for environment

Does the job
I do like that they come in bulk and that they weren’t too expensive but I definitely don’t think the quality is that high and they’re very easily falling apart but that’s probably because they are cheap. if you have a dog that is a they will get it into little pieces very soon after they have it. So I’ve had to put them up when we are done.

Not durable
Why did you pick this product vs others?: I'm giving it 2 stars because these balls are not durable. They also don't bounce well. My dog cracks the seam easily. I will use them, but won't be purchasing again.
