Polyscias (Aralias) were collected during the travels of plant collector and supreme gardener William Guilfoyle and we now have cultivar 'Roble' from those original plants. It's been a while since we featured a new Aralia in our Shop. Polyscias (Aralias) were collected during the travels of plant collector and supreme gardener William Guilfoyle and we now have cultivar 'Roble' from those original plants. Polyscias Roble translates to "shady oak" for its resemblance to a small tree and the distinctly oak shaped leaves. It has the familiar Aralia stump shape of upright and narrow tree on older, woody stumps; those old, gnarled stumps are grown quite awhile and then trimmed and allowed to grow new tops, for an interesting architectural shape and tons of personality. The beige, multitrunk stumps populate the bottom of the plant giving way to younger, thinner, round, speckled green stems holding showers of the bright, fresh green, raggedy, jaggedy-edged oak leaves. As with all Aralias, it's a good idea to give Roble a shower now and then to remove dust and discourage pesties. Not sure if you will ever see them, but greenish flowers can appear giving way to black berries.

Quick Care Guide:
- Water - Medium (3): Water plant when dry. Plant does not like soil to always be moist, but doesn't like to stay dry once becomes dry. Water as soon as soil is dry.
- Light - Med/High (4): Needs more light than most, but direct light not necessary. Can handle morning and afternoon sun directly on leaves.
- Difficulty - Medium (3): Not too difficult to keep happy, but does require some attention.
