The Silver Bay Chinese Evergreen — Effortlessly Beautiful, Impossibly Easy
Some plants demand constant attention. The Aglaonema 'Silver Bay' is not one of them. With its broad, silvery-green leaves edged in deep emerald, this Chinese Evergreen brings a calm, sophisticated presence to any room — and asks for almost nothing in return. It thrives in the corners other plants abandon, shrugs off missed waterings, and keeps looking polished whether you're a devoted plant parent or a self-described plant killer.
At Ed's Plant Shop, every Silver Bay is grown and hand-selected for fullness and health — so you're getting a plant that's already thriving, not one that needs to recover from shipping stress.
Plant Profile
- Botanical Name: Aglaonema commutatum 'Silver Bay'
- Common Names: Silver Bay Chinese Evergreen, Silver Stone
- Family: Araceae
- Native Range: Southeast Asia, New Guinea
- Growth Habit: Upright, bushy — grows 2–3 ft tall indoors
- Leaf Color: Silvery-green center with rich dark green margins — elegant and distinctive
- Toxicity: Toxic if ingested — keep away from pets and children
Care Guide
- Light: Low to bright indirect light — one of the most light-tolerant houseplants available. Avoid direct sun, which can scorch the leaves.
- Water: Water when the top 2" of soil are dry. It's more forgiving of underwatering than overwatering — when in doubt, wait a few more days.
- Humidity: Adapts to average home humidity. No misting required.
- Temperature: Prefers 60–80°F. Keep away from cold drafts and air conditioning vents.
- Fertilizer: Light feeder — a balanced liquid fertilizer once in spring and once in summer is plenty.
- Pruning: Remove yellow or brown leaves at the base to keep it looking its best.
- Propagation: Divide at the root during repotting to create new plants.
- Pests: Naturally resilient — one of the most pest-resistant houseplants you can own.
Why the Silver Bay Earns Its Place in Any Home
- True Low-Light Champion: Thrives in offices, hallways, and shaded rooms where most plants simply won't survive.
- Forgiving by Nature: Tolerates irregular watering, dry air, and imperfect conditions — ideal for busy lifestyles.
- Striking, Sculptural Foliage: The silver-and-green variegation is bold enough to be a focal point, refined enough to complement any décor.
- Multiple Sizes Available: From compact 4.5" starter plants to large 10" statement specimens — choose the size that fits your space.
- Air-Purifying: Filters common indoor pollutants for a healthier living environment.
- Hand-Selected Quality: Every plant from Ed's is inspected before it ships — full, healthy, and ready to settle into your home.
💡 Pro Tip: The Darker the Corner, the Better
The Silver Bay is one of the rare plants that genuinely improves in lower light conditions — its silvery variegation stays vivid even in dim spaces. Place it in that tricky corner you've been struggling to fill, and watch it thrive where everything else has failed.

Surprisingly amazing chair!
Color: Pink, Color: Pink
tl;dr: If you need a chair that has the features of this one, then this one is a winner! Hits above its weight class for sure.
My wife is 5’. She’s small. For whatever reason she ended up with a chair made for big people, like 6+ feet and up to 500lbs type of a chair. She’d often even sleep on it and chill on it. The chair was big enough to fit 2 of her to be honest. It was an expensive chair that I won at some raffle and didn’t like myself. Over the years it ripped (got a cover for it) and even started to get lopsided (from the sleeping) and finally a spring broke (hence the pillow on it in the pictures)
She obviously lives pink. I also wanted to get a chair where she could work and not end ip asleep on. Not like we have a couch or a bed for that 😂.
This chair is very obviously smaller than her previous chair, it’s also significantly cheaper in price and build, it’s also not as durable feeling or stable, and it’s just not as padded. Yet somehow it’s an amazing chair that we both like better than her previous chair???
Like it’s crazy that this chair somehow works better in so many ways. Her desk is modified to be shorter than normal desks (again, she small lol) and her previous chair was just too big. The wheels are also like SUPER smooth, like you can run a chair race easily with it. It rolls over her rug and tucks into her desk (which is in our bedroom) easily. The amount of space this has save us when the chair isn’t being used is a lot. Previous chair was much bigger and didn’t tuck in at all.
The color is nice and the padding is plenty for a small and much lighter than 500lbs woman. I’m 6 feet and 200 lbs and the chair is nice for me as well. My chair is bigger and more secure in the backing, which is similar to this one. The lowest tension setting on my chair is still too high for her to lean back on my chair. This chair has a lower tension minimum and she can easily lean back freely, as well as keep enough tension to work without sagging.
This chair is surprisingly outstanding! I’m sure my wife will destroy it quicker than the last one, but it’s so cheap that even if it only lasts 1-3 years, I’ll happily buy it ones or twice more 🤷🏽♀️. Maybe by then they’ll invent a comfortable titanium chair that’s affordable that she won’t destroy 😂.

Mid.
Color: Light Purple
The chair is fine, and reasonably easy to put together. However, I've been using it for a little over a year and a half, and it's already falling apart. Random parts of it have fallen off, which is fine because it was still functional. But now the most frustrating part is that the wheels continue to pop off, and while the first attempts to pop them back on worked, they will not stay on now. This is obviously greatly impacting the stability, and I will need to purchase a replacement soon. For this price and lack of long-term durability, I would not buy again.

Alexa messed me up, but the company of the chair made it right!
Color: Light Purple, Color: Light Purple
I wanted something small with arms that moved out of the way when I wanted to slide my chair all the way into my desk for more space. This fit the bill. I loved the color blue and I had that in my cart for a bit. One day Alexa mentioned that an item that was in my cart was on sale. It was the chair. I let it be ordered. When it came it didn't exactly look blue to me. But I kept putting it together thinking maybe it was the lighting in the room I was assembling it in. I brought it to my craft room and lo and behold it is light purple. I looked at my order and sure enough it said light purple. Boo! I looked in my saved cart and the chair was gone. So I accepted it for an error. The next day I checked to see if I could return it. Thought I could, till I read that I would have to pay to return it. So I wrote the seller to tell them to ignore the return. And that was that. Till a couple days later I get an email from the seller asking if I would like a full refund or a replacement at no cost. I was like heck yeah send me the blue one. I was thrilled and I wanted to thank the seller for doing this without the return of the other chair. But I could not find a place to do that now. So here is where I will thank you. Thank you so much for doing this for me. You guys are AWESOME!. I love the chair and I love the blue color. I find it very comfortable, lite, easy to adjust, the size works great for me, and for the price the quality fits my needs. I do hope it lasts me for quite some time. Thanks again!

Awesome chair definitely recommend
Color: Blue, Color: Blue
It was amazing the color was spot on and it was very very easy to put together and the size is amazing for my 11 year old daughter maybe not for an older person it doesn’t recline as much as it says so if you want a reclining chair maybe I don’t recommend this chair but the quality is amazing and the adjustment capability is incredible the noise level is at 0 it is an amazing chair we just got it so I don’t know so much about the dupability so if you want this chair for a child or a tween maybe even a teen easy to put together beautiful blue color this is the chair for you.
