No over-watering, no neglect

Do your plants (and yourself), a BIG favour with this clever little device. Sustee takes the stress and guesswork out of the biggest impact you have on whether your plants live or die - water!

No accidental overwatering
causing root rot. No neglect causing wilting and death. No sticking fingers in dirt (nowhere close to where the roots are anyway!). One of the most time-consuming, worrying parts of plant ownership is now easy peasy. Plus you can leave your plants in the care of flatmates, family and friends without fear. Only water when Sustee turns white. Simple!

Superb for picky plant buddies sensitive to overwatering, plants prone to root rot, or drama queens that don't handle drying out, especially for wish-list plants in particular.

If you've been lucky enough to tick something special off your wish-list or have a plant with sentimental value you'd hate to lose - don't risk killing it over something this simple to prevent getting wrong.

Set and forget

This clever set-and-forget device hangs out down at root level and tells you if you really need to water. Sure, you do our best to guess based on sticking fingers into the soil, but that doesn't tell you what's going on at root level where root rot happens. Plus your Sustee speeds up watering time dramatically. A simple glance at the colour of your Sustee tells you everything you need to know. No need to move or lift anyone or stick fingers anywhere. Couldn't be easier.

How does Sustee work?

The replaceable core inside measures the amount of water down at the tip (at root level where it's inserted into the soil). That moisture travels up the core, changing the window at the top to blue when wet, and fading back to white when it's time to water again. It's that easy!

One Sustee comes with the housing and one core. Each core lasts 3 to 6 months and you can get refill packs. The '20 questions about Sustee' video will answer all your FAQ's and is worth a quick watch before you buy. Full directions and video >

What size Sustee do you need?

Sustee come in 3 sizes in 3 colours, white, green or new black. Each size also has matching core refill packs available here to order with your Sustee but you won't need a refill for some time (cores last 6 to 9 months).

SMALL
is for all the little guys. The entire length is just 12cms. It sits about 7cm tall above soil level when inserted in your pot. Use SMALL for plants where the root are roughly 4cm to 5cm below the top of the soil, for pots up to 9cm to 10cm wide or smaller, and for plants with shallow roots (even if they're in bigger pots).

MEDIUM is the go for most standard indoor plants. The whole length is 18cms. It sits from 8cm to 11cm above soil level when inserted. This one's for plants where the roots are roughly 7cm to 11cm down below the top of the soil - for pot sizes from around 10cm up to 18cm wide. Remember soil and root depth is what counts, so for a wide but shallow pot go for the medium, or upgrade to the large for deeper pots.

LARGE is for all your bigger potted babes, and great for outdoor container plants under cover too. The entire length is 25cm and when inserted it sits 8cm to 15cm above soil level.  For anything in a pot with a width around 18cm up to 36cms and when the roots are about 11cm to 18cm or deeper below the top of the soil. Also for smaller width but deeper pots (you get the idea by now, but remember it's the soil and root depth that counts more than the pot width).

Flick through the photos to find the videos, give them a watch, then use the guide above to pick the best sizes for your jungle. Done!

Durable and Fun, Just Gets a Bit Rough
Size: Medium/Large, Color: Chopper - Large
This is a really good toy overall, especially if you have dogs that love to chew. My dogs were immediately into it—they play with it nonstop, toss it around, and stay entertained for a while, which I love. It definitely holds up better than most toys we’ve tried. The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because over time it does start to fray a bit and gets a little rough, especially with heavy chewing. It’s not completely indestructible, but it still lasts longer than a lot of other toys. Overall, still a great buy and I would recommend it if your dogs need something tough but fun!

Worthwhile!
Size: Medium/Large, Color: Turkey Day Drumstick - Large
I have a small dog with a really strong bite! Usually have to buy toys that are meant for bigger dogs. This has lasted us for what feels like forever. It does sound very heavy when dropped! My dog loves it though! Would definitely recommend!

Ohhh Mr. Iguana
Size: Medium/Large, Color: Illana the Iguana - Large
Mr. Iguana is a house favorite! I got my first one of these in a barkbox and my dog loved it so much, i went on the hunt for another one. Amazon saved the day! I own about 7 of these now. They are prefect for dogs just love to chew, they hold up great! And they are heavy duty, super easy to clean! My dogs are very happy, great value for the money! Doesn't have a smell, vibrant colors! Noise level is quiet, minus my dogs chewing !

Not for strong chewers
Size: Medium/Large, Color: Dog Ness Monster - Large
Initially, I really liked this for my dog. She is about 8 months old and still loves to chew and destroys most toys in a few minutes. When we got this, it seemed like it would hold up for a while despite being clearly gnawed on. Unfortunately, once she focused on the softer "water" portion of the toy, that is where things went downhill with this toy. After a few short chew sessions, she was tearing chunks out of it. We had purchased a replacement since she liked the original so much, and after about 5 minutes with the replacement, she had taken enough out of the blue section that we immediately threw that one out as well. Overall while the green portion held up, the blue didn't. I can't recommend this for strong chewers.

Definitely not indestructable
Size: Medium/Large, Color: Dog Ness Monster - Large, Size: Medium/Large, Color: Dog Ness Monster - Large
I have a 1-year-old toy fox terrier (Rocky, pictured). He has been chewing on this toy for seven months now; it is one of his favorites. He has been unable to seriously damage the "ocean" portion of this toy, but as you can see from the provided image, the sea serpent has not faired that well. It is missing its snout and smaller portions of the humps. My guess is that the advertiser images showing much larger dogs with "like new" versions of the toy are just that...NEW AND UNCHEWED. I have not had to clean up bits of this toy from my floor, so I assume Rocky has been swallowing them. My hope is that the yellow material of the serpent is not chemically dangerous when exposed to digestive fluids. Rocky easily destroys plush toys in a matter of days if not hours and, consumed pieces of a small microfiber blanket that he liked to toss around and play tug-of-war with (past tense as he destroyed it and has since been trashed after I began finding feces-stained undigested pieces of it lying around). Since this toy has survived seven months and has remained recognizable, I have to agree it is durable. Just beware, if my small toy fox terrier can damage the toy as pictured, expect your large breed chewer to do similar or worse damage. Also, the toy is very heavy! When Rocky drops it down a flight of stairs, it makes a MAJOR thud at the bottom, and sometimes makes me wonder if it might crack the large tile at the bottom. I cautiously recommend the product. Note the yellow frisbee in Rocky's picture. It is only a few months old and surprisingly has not suffered any chew damage despite substantial abuse. It appears to bend in the wind like a proverbial reed, evading damage by yielding to pressure.
