Dracaena "Rikki" is a fast-growing plant that reaches heights of 8 to 12 feet at maturity. This tough, low-maintenance plant is suitable for planting outdoors in the warmer climates of U.S. Department of Agriculture plant hardiness zones 10b through 11. Dracaena "Rikki" is a relatively new cultivar belonging to the deremensis species of dracaena. Deremensis is less common than other dracaena species, which include Dracaena marginata, a purple and green plant also known as dragon tree; Dracaena fragrans, commonly known as corn plant; or Dracaena godseffiana, a small, gold-flecked plant known as Gold Dust. Dracaena deremensis cultivars include not only "Rikki," but also "Janet Craig," Warneckii and "Compacta." Dracaena "Rikki" prefers a shaded area or dark corner of the garden, as low light brings out the bright colors of the leaves. Too much intense sunlight may result in leaves with a scorched, dry, streaky appearance.
