The Cymbidium Ruby Sarah "Gemstone" is a stunning hybrid that immediately attracts attention with her gem-like colors. As the name suggests, this clone combines the deep, warm hues of ruby with a luxurious luster that makes her a jewel among Cymbidiums.

Origin

Cymbidium Ruby Sarah is a modern hybrid that was developed to combine rich, dark colors and sturdy flower branches with a long flowering time. The clone "Gemstone" was selected for its particular intensity of color and perfectly shaped flowers.

Characteristics

The flowers are medium to large, with petals in deep ruby hues that sometimes show an almost velvety sheen. The lip often contrasts in cream or white, with striking red veining and a golden throat, adding depth and warmth to the flower. The flower branches are sturdy and bear many flowers at once, giving the plant a luxurious and full appearance during flowering. The foliage is long, narrow and fresh green, which makes the dark flowers stand out even more.

Care

Light

Lots of bright light is needed. Cymbidiums tolerate more sun than most orchids and can stand outside in summer, if protected from the hottest afternoon sun.

Temperature

15-25 °C during the day, with cooler nights in late summer and autumn (10-15 °C) to encourage flowering.

Substrate

A firm, airy mixture of medium coarse potting soil for Cymbidiums is ideal for healthy root development.

Humidity

A humidity of 50-70% is desired, combined with adequate air circulation.

Nutrition

Fertilize weekly during the growing period: nitrogen-rich in spring, and phosphorus-rich in late summer and fall to promote flower formation.

Watering

Give only demineralized water. Keep the substrate moist during the active growing period, but reduce watering once flowering buds develop.

Flowering

The flowering of Cymbidium Ruby Sarah "Gemstone" is a true spectacle of color. The ruby red flowers with their contrasting lip and glossy texture are reminiscent of gemstones, making this plant live up to its name. For collectors looking for a Cymbidium with deep, luxurious colors and an elegant appearance, this is an absolute must.

Total waste of money
I wouldnt give it one star but had to to leave a review. Just got these balls September 8, 2025. As of today we are on our third ball, September 13. My dog only used in field for fetch. He never layed down and chewed on it. The inside of the balls came apart. I pulled off felt to show where. The ball is otherwise intact. Never had this happen to any ball I ever bought. I researched and looked for good reviews even off Amazon because my dog is a border collie and loves to fetch. This is a huge waste of of money and bad for environment

Does the job
I do like that they come in bulk and that they weren’t too expensive but I definitely don’t think the quality is that high and they’re very easily falling apart but that’s probably because they are cheap. if you have a dog that is a they will get it into little pieces very soon after they have it. So I’ve had to put them up when we are done.

Not durable
Why did you pick this product vs others?: I'm giving it 2 stars because these balls are not durable. They also don't bounce well. My dog cracks the seam easily. I will use them, but won't be purchasing again.

Falls apart within minutes!
I’m a real human and person (sad I have to say that) who bought these stupid balls for my dog because tennis balls are EXPENSIVE. She chewed on them only a few times and the balls split in half into two hemispheres right away. Plus, she could rip the felt off the entire ball in less than an hour. Absolutely terrible and I truly threw money away because I threw away the original packaging and so I can’t get my money back! Very disappointing and sad :-(. Turns out that Play Again sports sells used tennis balls for $0.35 each. Sorry, Amazon. I’m getting my tennis balls from them from now on 😠

Do Not Buy!!
I just opened these balls up and what a waste of money. They don't bounce at all. They are made not like how normal tennis balls are. They are filled with so much air on the inside to where they bust really easy. They also have so much glue on them and that even comes off really easy. I paid $ 25 and some change and what a waste. The first ball only lasted a few seconds it's already shredded and busted. I do have a dog with a strong mouth and that is why I picked these balls they seemed they were made to last. I have an Old English Bulldogge and the ball lasted only seconds. Threw the ball out to her she put it in her mouth and Poof not a ball anymore.DO NOT BUY AT ALL!!!
