Materials & Care
Because this Wardian Case is not sealed, care is closer to a bright indoor plant display than a self-contained terrarium. Use your preferred approach—plant directly in the tray (with proper layers) or place potted plants inside for easy swaps.
Planting (Layering Method)
- Start with a thin layer of pea gravel for drainage.
- Mix in a small handful of activated charcoal and spread evenly.
- Add soil to your desired planting depth.
- Create cavities, place plants, and tamp soil to remove air pockets.
- Water lightly and monitor—avoid waterlogged soil.
Avoid harsh direct sunlight. Rotate plants occasionally, wipe glass with a clean cloth, and prune as needed.
