Lathyrus odoratus ‘Painted Lady’ is a charming heirloom sweet pea variety known for its delicate bicolor blooms and delightful fragrance. This annual climbing vine typically grows 5 to 6 feet tall and produces abundant flowers in shades of soft pink and creamy white, creating a romantic, vintage look. The blooms appear in early to midsummer, emitting a sweet, classic scent that attracts bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. The plant thrives in full sun and well-drained, fertile soil, and it benefits from regular watering and a support structure such as a trellis or fence to climb. ‘Painted Lady’ is one of the oldest cultivated sweet pea varieties, prized for its beauty, scent, and historical significance in cottage and cutting gardens. Its graceful flowers are ideal for floral arrangements and lend a nostalgic elegance to borders and containers. Annual

Germination

To germinate Lathyrus odoratus ‘Painted Lady’ seeds, begin by soaking the seeds in warm water for 12 to 24 hours to soften their hard outer coat, which encourages faster and more uniform sprouting. After soaking, sow the seeds about 1 inch deep in a well-draining seed-starting mix. Maintain a consistent temperature between 15–20°C (59–68°F) and keep the soil evenly moist but not soggy. Germination typically occurs within 7 to 14 days. Once the seedlings develop a few sets of true leaves, they can be transplanted outdoors after the danger of frost has passed. Provide support such as a trellis or netting, as this climbing vine benefits from vertical growth. 'Painted Lady' thrives in full sun and fertile soil, rewarding the gardener with fragrant, bicolor blooms throughout the early summer season.

Not for aggressive chewers!
Color: H) Infinity Ring, Color: H) Infinity Ring
Not for aggressive chewers! Done for in about two minutes. I unboxed this and tugged with my Mal for a but then let her have it. Within minutes she had chewed through it. Not worth the money.

Not Quite So Durable...
Color: B) Medium 3" Ball, Color: B) Medium 3" Ball
Maybe I have a SUPER aggressive chewer...he went through this ball in under a week. I originally bought the ball because of a review that stated the owner's Pitbull had the same ball for two years; not so much for my Rottweiler. He started chewing off and swallowing small crumbs from the ball within a day or two. By the end of the week, it was chunks so I had to toss it in the trash to prevent an intestinal obstruction. On the up side, my Rottweiler LOVED the ball while it lasted. However, I can't, in good conscience, give this ball a rave review based on this experience. Please take this review with a grain of salt as I have yet to find ANY toy that my boy won't DESTROY in a week or two. I hope that someone finds this informative when searching for chew toys for SUPER aggressive chewers like mine.

If you were looking for a sign to buy this, here it is
Color: A) Small 2.5" Ball
If you are looking for a ball that can stand up next to a heavy, aggressive chewer.. this is a good choice. Our Pitbull literally destroyed any and every toy that she gets with the exception of one kind of kong ball. She tore through the kong Frisbees, any kind of squeaker toy, and the wobble wag giggle ball (she usually always ends up destroying these but it takes a few weeks. Today she beat her record and had her brand new ball destroyed within the first 30 minutes of us taking it out of the box). But, this ball she has not been able to destroy. I'd like to believe that the Kong ball she has and this ball are made of the same material. Because they are the only balls she can't ruin. And it's not because of a lack of trying. We have watched her sit there and chew with a side of her mouth for an hour or more, trying to make some kind of indention or tear in it and it just never happened. She loves to chew this thing, chase this thing, sleep with this thing. I most certainly recommend this ball. If it is I'ah proof then it is most certainly, 100% a durable ball and worth every penny
