For bushy, healthy young plants we cannot recommend the T5 range highly enough. These lights give off little heat so they can be placed much closer to the plants than high intensity discharge lights. We have seen them use successfully with a wide range of plants but they are fantastic lights for propagation and are highly recommended for this purpose.
