This tree doesn't belong to the pine family, it has a similar pyramidal, upright shape and evergreen foliage. Transplant the Norfolk pine to a larger planter every four years or when it grows out of its current container. Norfolk pines need a humidity level around 50 percent. Place a humidifier in the room with the pine if your home has dry conditions.
Apply a water-soluble fertilizer every four months while the tree grows. Any fertilizer suited for indoor foliage plants works fine, or choose a balanced fertilizer such as 10-10-10. Cease fertilizing during the winter months.
- At least a few hours of direct sunlight daily and plenty of indirect light throughout the day. Turn the plant a quarter rotation every week to provide even light distribution.
