While the specific "Black Margin" cultivar is a selection favored by collectors, the parent species are native to the subtropical and tropical regions of Southeast Asia. It is a member of the Apocynaceae family, commonly known as "Wax Plants" or "Porcelain Flowers" due to their thick, waxy foliage and blooms.
