Monstera deliciosa 'Bulbasaur'

Monstera deliciosa 'Bulbasaur' is a green-variegated Monstera with layered green patterning on the broad leaves of Monstera deliciosa. New growth can show deeper green, paler green and mottled sections while the plant keeps a climbing stem with nodes and aerial roots.

The plant develops from active growth points along the stem. As the root system strengthens and the stem gains support, new leaves can become larger and show more of the mature Monstera shape.

Bulbasaur Monstera leaf pattern and vine growth

  • Leaf pattern: Variegated green foliage with natural differences between individual leaves.
  • Stem growth: New leaves emerge from nodes along a climbing Monstera stem.
  • Aerial roots: Roots may form along the stem and can be guided toward support or substrate.
  • Indoor habit: A support holds larger leaves upright as the plant matures.

How Monstera 'Bulbasaur' leaves and roots develop

Monstera deliciosa 'Bulbasaur' opens new leaves rolled, then the blades expand and firm up as they harden. The final pattern becomes clearer after the leaf has fully opened.

Aerial roots are part of the plant’s climbing structure. Flexible roots can be directed toward a pole or into the potting mix, while stiff older roots should be left in place rather than forced into position.

Bulbasaur Monstera care and support

  • Light: Keep in bright filtered light and avoid harsh direct sun on paler leaf areas.
  • Watering: Water deeply after the upper part of the mix dries, then let the pot drain fully.
  • Substrate: Use a chunky mix with bark and mineral structure for oxygen around the roots.
  • Temperature: Maintain warm indoor conditions and protect the plant from cold draughts.
  • Training: Secure the stem to support without compressing petioles or growth points.
  • Repotting: Use a stable pot one size larger when thick roots occupy the mix, and reset the support before the stem leans.
  • Feeding: Feed at mild strength once a new leaf has hardened; skip heavy doses immediately after shipping, cutting or repotting.

Common Monstera 'Bulbasaur' growth problems

  • Brown variegated areas: Check direct sun, irregular watering, root stress and old tissue age.
  • Distorted new leaves: Inspect rolled growth for pests, dryness or mechanical damage while unfurling.
  • Weak climbing stem: Add support and check whether the plant is leaning strongly toward light.
  • Yellowing after repotting: Review root disturbance, wet substrate and temperature stability.

Bulbasaur Monstera safety

Monstera deliciosa 'Bulbasaur' contains calcium oxalate crystals. Keep leaves, stems and cuttings away from pets and children who may chew them, and wash sap from skin after pruning.

Bulbasaur name in Monstera deliciosa

This plant belongs to Monstera deliciosa in Araceae. Monstera refers to the unusual mature leaves, and deliciosa refers to the ripe fruit produced by mature plants in suitable tropical conditions.

As the stem matures, Monstera deliciosa 'Bulbasaur' can develop layered green patterning and broader split leaves on supported growth.

Plenty of power. Easy to use.
Size: 8" Edger New
I was amazed at the power of this edger. Due to health issues we couldn’t give our lawn adequate attention. It hadn’t been edged in over a year. This edger cut thru the heavy overgrown grass. Maintaining the edging now is a breeze. It uses the same 80 volt battery as my blower👍. The only negative is there is no edge guide, but once I got used to it, it’s not really needed.

Uses same battery as the rest of my equipment
Size: 8" Edger New
Since I already have and like the Greenworks mower, string trimmer and blower it only made sense to get the edger. Even better that I didn’t need to buy more batteries. I tried another name brand electric edger and returned it for not holding a charge. This one works great! There’s charge left in the battery after everything has been edged. I was concerned how easy it would be to control but fell in love with it first time I used it. To use just pop the battery in, flip the thumb lever, squeeze and edge. Not as noisy as gas powered equipment and no cords to pull. Feels sturdy in my hands and a good weight that’s enough to not pop up if it hits something but not too much to be heavy to carry back to the shed.

First use was great!
I've used it just the one time today. I had previously "edged" with a string weedwhacker, so while the grass was cut back some, there wasn't a trench dug out. I did a gentle push and pull, taking on about 18" at a time to get a new trench dug next to the sidewalk edge. It did a great job! The entire unit was much heavier and sturdy looking than I was afraid it would be for the price, so pleasantly surprised. Assembly wasn't complicated, but it did take two of us to hold it steady because getting the screws to seat in the square hole and not have the cord in the way was a bit tricky. I'm a 70+ lady, not large and not athletic, but I was able to handle this edger with ease. Now, to see how long it lasts!
