Description

Meet the Audrey Ficus—the beauty that wants to make your plant parenthood journey a joy! With its soft, velvety, oval leaves decorated with delicate pale veining, it brings that perfect "I've got my plant game together" energy to any room.

Native to India and Pakistan, this stunning indoor banyan tree has learned the art of making a statement while being wonderfully forgiving. Your Audrey Ficus will gracefully grow to 5-10 feet tall indoors, creating that lush, tropical sanctuary you've been dreaming of. It's genuinely easier to care for than its more famous cousin, which means you can focus on enjoying its elegant presence instead of worrying about every little care detail.

We love how this beauty adapts to your life—it's patient when you're learning, forgiving when you're busy, and always ready to reward your care with steady, satisfying growth. With its air-purifying qualities and that gorgeous architectural form, it's like having a living sculpture that actually improves your home's atmosphere.

Care

How do you care for an Audrey Ficus?

Audrey Ficus care centers on providing bright indirect light placement, careful watering when the top two inches of soil feel completely dry, regular gentle misting for proper humidity levels, and monthly balanced feeding during spring and summer growing seasons.

Your Audrey Ficus is wonderfully straightforward once you understand its rhythm. Place it near a south or west-facing window where it can soak up plenty of bright, filtered light throughout the day. Water it thoroughly when you can stick your finger into the soil and feel that the top 1-2 inches are completely dry, then let any excess water drain away completely—this plant really dislikes having wet feet.

A light misting every few days helps it feel at home, especially during drier months. During its active growing period from spring through summer, treat your plant to a balanced fertilizer at half strength once monthly, and it will show its appreciation with healthy, vibrant growth.

Is Audrey Ficus a good indoor plant?

The Audrey Ficus makes an absolutely exceptional indoor plant choice for your home, offering stunning tropical beauty with significantly easier care requirements than most other large-leafed houseplants, making it perfect for plant parents seeking elegant visual impact.

It truly thrives in indoor environments and brings that sophisticated, lived-in elegance that makes any space feel more intentional and beautiful. Its natural air-purifying abilities are a wonderful bonus, but honestly, we think you'll fall in love with it primarily for how it transforms your home's atmosphere.

Unlike some of the more temperamental plants in the ficus family, your Audrey Ficus is genuinely pleasant to live with and won't punish you for the occasional care misstep—it understands that life gets busy sometimes.

Can Audrey Ficus tolerate low light?

Your Audrey Ficus can manage reasonably well in medium light conditions but absolutely won't flourish in truly low light situations, needing several hours of bright, indirect Audrey Ficus light daily for optimal health, growth and vibrant appearance.

While it's adaptable and patient, it does have its preferences. In lower light situations, you might notice slower growth and some natural leaf drop as your plant conserves its energy. We've found that giving your Audrey Ficus the bright, indirect light it craves really brings out the best in those beautiful velvety leaves and helps maintain its elegant, full form. When it's happy with its lighting, it will reward you with that lush, healthy appearance that makes it such a showstopper.

How often do you water an Audrey Ficus?

Water your Audrey Ficus thoroughly and completely when the top 1-2 inches of soil feel completely dry to the touch, which typically occurs every 1-2 weeks during the active growing season, and less frequently during winter months.

We always recommend checking the soil rather than following a strict calendar schedule—your plant will tell you when it's ready for a drink. During spring and summer when it's actively growing, it will be a bit thirstier and may need water every week or so. As winter approaches and its growth naturally slows, you can stretch that to every 2-3 weeks. Your Audrey Ficus is much more forgiving of slight underwatering than overwatering, so when you're uncertain, it's perfectly fine to wait another day or two.

How quickly does an Audrey Ficus grow indoors?

The Audrey Ficus grows at a pleasantly steady and manageable pace indoors, typically adding approximately 12-24 inches of new growth yearly with proper care and attention, reaching full indoor size over approximately 5-7 years under ideal conditions.

We love how it grows at just the right speed—fast enough that you can see progress and feel that wonderful satisfaction of successful plant parenthood, but not so quickly that it overwhelms your space overnight. This gradual growth means you can plan your room layout and watch your plant develop into an impressive floor-to-ceiling statement piece over time. There's something really special about nurturing a plant through that journey and seeing how it transforms alongside your home.

How much sun does Ficus Audrey need?

Your Audrey Ficus needs several hours of bright, indirect sunlight daily for optimal growth and overall health, with gentle morning or evening direct sun being perfectly acceptable and beneficial for maintaining healthy growth and vibrant leaf coloration.

Position your plant near a bright window where it can drink in plenty of filtered light throughout the day. It actually enjoys some gentle direct morning or evening sun, but we recommend protecting it from harsh midday rays that might stress those beautiful leaves. When your Audrey Ficus gets the right amount of light, you'll notice how much more vibrant and healthy it looks—it really makes all the difference in its overall wellbeing.

Should I mist my Audrey Ficus?

Misting your Audrey Ficus is definitely beneficial for its overall health and wellbeing, especially in dry indoor environments, helping to increase humidity levels around the plant and keeping those gorgeous velvety leaves clean, dust-free and beautifully happy.

Your Audrey Ficus genuinely appreciates the extra humidity, particularly during winter months when indoor heating can make the air quite dry. A gentle misting every few days or placing a humidifier nearby will help your plant feel more comfortable and prevent those crispy leaf edges that can happen in very dry conditions. Plus, it's a lovely opportunity to spend a quiet moment with your plant and check in on how it's doing—we think of it as part of the joy of plant parenthood.

What is the best fertilizer for an Audrey Ficus?

The best fertilizer for your Audrey Ficus is a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer option with standard NPK ratios like 10-10-10 or 20-20-20, diluted to half strength and applied monthly during spring and summer growing seasons only for optimal health.

Your plant isn't a heavy feeder, so a gentle approach works beautifully. During its active growing season from spring through summer, that monthly feeding gives your Audrey Ficus just the nutritional boost it needs to put out healthy new growth. Come fall and winter, let it rest completely without any fertilizer—this natural rhythm helps keep your plant healthy and prepares it for another season of beautiful growth when spring returns.

Pet-friendly?

The Audrey Ficus isn't pet-friendly and contains natural compounds that can be harmful to curious pets. While it's absolutely gorgeous to admire, it's definitely not safe for nibbling by your furry family members.

Is Audrey Ficus toxic to dogs?

The Audrey Ficus is definitely toxic to dogs and should be kept away from them at all times, with its natural latex sap containing harmful compounds that can cause vomiting, diarrhea, and oral irritation requiring immediate veterinary attention.

Is Audrey Ficus poisonous to cats?

The Audrey Ficus is toxic to cats and should be kept safely out of reach at all times, potentially causing drooling, vomiting, diarrhea, and mouth irritation from the natural compounds in its latex sap when ingested by curious felines.

Factoids

What is the difference between an Audrey Ficus and a Fiddle Leaf Fig?

The Audrey Ficus features soft, oval leaves and is easier to look after, while the Fiddle Leaf Fig has violin-shaped, glossy leaves and requires more maintenance. Your Audrey Ficus won’t have a tantrum if you miss a few care steps.

Is Ficus Audrey rare?

While you might not stumble across your Audrey Ficus at every big box store, it's definitely accessible through speciality plant retailers like us who understand its value. We love that it offers something special without being impossible to find.

What is the benefit of Audrey Ficus?

Beyond its obvious beauty, it's genuinely working to improve your indoor air quality with less fuss than many other statement plants. The combination of practical benefits and visual impact makes your Audrey Ficus such a wonderful addition to any home.

Where does Audrey Ficus get its name?

"Audrey" evokes that same classic beauty you associate with timeless style icons. Its botanical name tells the story of its origins in the Bengal region, where its wild relatives grow into sacred banyan trees so revered in Indian culture.

Excellent machine
Color: A-Silver, Style: Button
Been using this machine every day for over 3 months. It works great and makes a fantastic cup of espresso. Some observations: - Use with a conical grinder. Small changes to the size of the grind makes a significant change to the pressure that can be generated (smaller grind = higher pressure). This results in significant changes to the flavor of the espresso. - The screen cups have a small notch/bump in them to keep them from falling out of the handle when dumping the grinds. They can only be inserted/removed from the handle in one way. I replaced them with ones without the notch (my preference). - If you allow it to run out of water while running, you have to release the internal pressure by opening the steamer wand valve (put a cup under the wand). The machine is not broken - don't panic. - The pour volume for a single and double can be adjusted (read the manual) but the minimum pour size is a little large in my opinion. The pour can be stopped manually but you have to be monitoring the pour to turn it off. - There is some vibration in some conditions that can cause the cup to wander during the pour. So it is best to keep an eye on the pour in any case (see comment above)

Cheaper than Breville Bambino and probably better
Color: A-Silver, Style: Button
I have a Breville Bambino but bought this for my parent’s house as I was hosting a party there for a week. In comparison to the Bambino, this Casabrew produces more espresso for a double with more foam with less grounds (15g for Casabrew vs 18g for Bambino). Although I had to use the hot water function repeatedly to decrease the temperature and prevent over heating, I was able to use the milk frother function for 7 drinks in a row without any issue. The machine takes up more room vertically and the materials seem more solid than the Breville and at a lower price. I am very happy with this product and would’ve been happy with it over the Breville had I known how good it was. It was easy to set up, brew time was quick, temperature good without having to warm up the machine like it suggested. No leakage at all. Excellent product. PS. If noise level is important to you, the Breville is less noisy.

Nice espresso
Color: A-Silver, Style: Button, Color: A-Silver, Style: Button
This little machine does a pretty good job at making your cup of espresso. It does extract a lot of flavor out of your coffee. The milk steamer does work really good and makes a great hot froth for you espresso. The size is great as well since it has such a small footprint. The style is wonderful looking and makes it look like an expensive machine. It does have some issues as far as how much you will get out of an extraction. But I am comparing it to a friend's that is much more expensive. Another issue is once you use the steamer the machine get to hot. You will then need to either wait until it cools off to make another shot of espresso, or run the steamer to release the heat. One other thing, the grounds are not pressed into a hard puck after an extraction. They will be a little loose and still wet. Be careful when you empty the grounds since they are wet. It can splash a lot trying to empty them. The plastic press it comes with is very weak. You need the metal one with some weight. The machine is decent and will save you a lot in the long run compared to buying it from a shop every day.

Excellent espresso, shocked how good this thing is for the price.
Color: A-Silver, Style: Button
I thought the barrier to entry into espresso would cost more. I assumed the machines under $500 would be absolute junk. I still have a $600 unit in my save for later that I was going to "graduate" to if it turned out I'm into espresso as much as I thought I'd be. Decided to get my feet wet with this unit fully expecting to eventually buy the $600 one I had my eyes on. Turns out, I could not possibly fathom what I'd need to replace this thing for? It does exactly as it should. Maybe the pressure isn't perfect or the temps are not 100% stable like a professional grade machine, but this makes a damn good cup of double shot espresso. The steamer wand works well. I will use this thing until it doesn't espresso no more. One thing I had to get used to is the order of operation: 1. Get the steamer going by spraying water/steam mix into your cup, when it's fully steam, use your chilled milk pitcher to get your steamed milk, 2. Clean off the steam wand, turn off the steam button, then open up the steamer again until it spits out nothing but hot water (no steam) because this cools down the machine's internals, if you try to brew a cup of espresso before this step, it will not work, it must cool down and the only way to do that is to send water through the steamer, 3. Brew a single cup with no grinds, just pass water through to pre-heat everything, 4. Load the grinds and make your actual espresso. If you're on the fence, don't hesitate, this thing is amazing for the price.

Can’t recommend anymore
Color: A-Silver, Style: Button, Color: A-Silver, Style: Button
Updated 2/25/25 - after being contacted in January by Casabrews and keeping the machine rather than returning it… it now leaks water all over the counter out of the bottom of the water container when I’m adding water and when I’m making espresso. I’ve taken it apart and put it back together - didn’t help. Video attached. Turns out the Bambino is worth the price. I do not recommend this machine - it is NOT made to last. Alright… longest story short - I’m directly comparing this machine to what seems to be the highly coveted Breville Bambino Plus that costs 3.6% more than this machine. For the overall response without reading any further - get this one over the more expensive option! For the longer version keep reading. I need a new machine to replace my very old espresso machine that isn’t working properly anymore. I didn’t want to go too crazy with spending if I didn’t have to. So many people seem to LOVE the Bambino Plus. I bought one three days ago. I returned it two days ago. It made espresso, but not well, and the auto milk frothing, two out of three times, did not stop and boiled fairly hot milk over the pitcher and everywhere. Not a good feature. Not worth the extra $200 they add for that feature over the regular Bambino. The regular Bambino is still slightly more than 2x the price of this machine. This morning out of frustration I opened Amazon and looked for the highest rated/reviewed machine that I could get TODAY before 3pm. Helped narrow it down out of thousands of machines quickly. So here we are. Why 3 stars? Here are the pros and cons for me (and mind you I’ve made ONE drink - the video that is attached). Pros: It’s cute / kinda retro looking with the guage. Which due to filming and watching the coffee flow I realize I didn’t even look at it so I don’t know if it is helpful or not yet. It’s very compact and is smaller than most drip coffee machines. It should cause zero space issues for anyone. It seems fairly sturdy despite the price. It didn’t rattle my cup around etc. Yes I had to hold onto it for the portafilter - but not in an agressive way. The Bambino felt like I had to hold onto it more so. The box and the directions it comes with - they really do cover a lot of information for people who are new to espresso making - which I think is a nice added touch. Cons: The steam wand, turned all the way up, does a terrible job at frothing. If you want hot milk that doesn’t get any real texture - that was my experience. Again - first use - but I steam milk everyday and this steam wand was a let down. The portafilter, the baskets, the "tamper"…. All three need to be replaced immediately. The portafilter is very lightweight and the baskets have to be turned and placed inside with little slots. They feel very low quality overall. The tamper is the flat side of a plastic spoon. I didn’t open the bag with the spoon or the single basket - I didn’t bother trying to use it. I used one I already have. No milk pitcher included. Casabrews does sell upgraded portafilters and baskets and a tamper. I don’t know if I am going to keep this machine (I make milk drinks all day and that steam wand is rough for me) - but if I do - I will spend the extra for the better accessories (bottomless portafilter - non pressurized basket etc). For a budget machine though - overall I’d say this machines reviews are pretty accurate. I did follow all the instructions - and I’m going to go make another coffee now. Update: 1/7/25 - I will still leave my rating at 3 stars because of everything I said a couple of days ago. After a couple of days with this machine and many espresso drinks made - I wanted to add a couple things. First - it really does not froth milk. I’ve tried three different kinds and it just gets it really hot with zero texture and zero froth. Massive letdown for me since I like milk drinks. I also meant to mention in the first review, the steam wand is not the insulated kind - so it gets VERY hot. Just something to be careful with if you aren’t aware that not all steam wands are made the same. I tested the machine with coffee ground for espresso machines and it did not like it. With the pressurized basket it comes with, the machine does better with a more coarse grind (similar to a drip coffee/sea salt texture grind). That would be a plus if you want to use pre ground coffee from the grocery store. The instructions for the machine also say that you cannot use the steam wand and then make another espresso shot right after. If you try to do that the machine goes into heat protection mode. It locks the machine and there is a sequence you run that ends up using a lot of water in your reservoir to cool the machine back down. If you wanted to make a milk drink for someone and make another drink right after for someone else, you can’t. Or you can’t without either waiting an unknown amount of cool down time OR running the routine to cool the machine first. HOPEFULLY this review helps in someone’s decision making. If you ONLY drink espresso shots - this machine is probably tidally worth it! If you like milk drinks…. Maybe try it out and see if you have better luck than me. Today I had to use my old espresso machine’s steam wand to go with my espresso shot from this new machine.
