Chlorophytum comosum 'Ocean' in Kokodama – The ocean wave of houseplants
Fast EU shipping | Grown with love in the EU | Pet-safe
Summary: With its soft green and creamy-white striped leaves, Chlorophytum 'Ocean' sways like seafoam — now nestled in an eco Kokodama pot, it’s perfect for low-maintenance freshness.
✨ Why You'll Love It
- Compact, wavy leaves with a striking variegated pattern
- Air-purifying and pet-safe — ideal for bedrooms or kitchens
- Eco-friendly Kokodama pot for a natural, grounded look
- Easy to grow, even in lower light areas
- Perfect for German flats — compact size (P15 H20 cm)
🌞 Light & Placement
Prefers bright, indirect light but is very tolerant of low light. Avoid harsh direct sunlight to prevent leaf scorch. A great fit for bathrooms or hallways.
💧 Water & Humidity
Keep the soil lightly moist, but not soggy. Let the top 2–3 cm dry out between waterings. Enjoys average humidity and occasional misting.
🪴 Soil & Potting
Use well-draining potting mix. Kokodama pots dry faster, so check soil more often. Great for hanging or placed in decorative bowls.
🐾 Toxicity & Safety
Pet-safe — one of the best houseplants for homes with curious pets.
🌱 Growth & Propagation
Grows in small tufts with occasional baby "spiderettes" that can be easily propagated in water or soil. Prune faded tips for freshness.
🗖 Seasonal & Special Care
Active in spring and summer. In winter, reduce watering and avoid cold air. Occasionally rinse leaves to remove dust and boost photosynthesis.
🪻 Common Issues
- Brown tips: Often from dry air or tap water with high minerals.
- Yellow leaves: Overwatering or lack of drainage.
- Leaf curl: Needs more humidity or light.
🧬 Botanical Background
Chlorophytum comosum 'Ocean' is a compact cultivar of the classic Spider Plant, beloved for its gentle leaf shape and easygoing care. Originating from South Africa, it's a top pick for improving indoor air quality.
