Native to Colombia and possibly Venezuela, this rare species, Tillandsia andreana, is a true collector's treasure.

Key Features:

  • Unique hemispherical growth habit
  • Vibrant green, thin-bladed foliage
  • Striking red floral bloom
  • Compact size, perfect for small spaces

Tillandsia andreana captivates with its distinctive ball-shaped form, reminiscent of a green firework frozen in mid-explosion. This airplant forms a dense cluster of thin, needle-like leaves that radiate outward from a central point, creating a mesmerizing spherical silhouette. Its verdant green coloration sets it apart from many of its silver-hued relatives, offering a refreshing pop of color. When in bloom, T. andreana produces a eye-catching red inflorescence that contrasts beautifully against its emerald foliage.

Collector's Note: The taxonomy of T. andreana has been subject to debate, with some authorities considering it synonymous with T. funckiana. This uncertainty adds to its allure for serious Tillandsia enthusiasts.

Care Tips: Provide bright, indirect light with a few hours of gentle morning sun. Water frequently, misting or soaking 2-3 times per week, and ensure excellent air circulation. Increase watering if leaf tips begin to brown.

Ideal for:

  • Collectors of rare Tillandsia species
  • Enthusiasts of miniature plants
  • Those seeking unique, sculptural airplants
  • Growers with limited space

Display Recommendation: Mount in small groups on driftwood or display in a shallow dish to showcase its spherical form.

Add this emerald jewel to your collection and witness nature's artistry in miniature form.

Second watch died faster than the first!
Color: Black/Brown/White
Now I have bought two of these. On the first, indiglo died after one year (battery otherwise fine). On the second, it only lasted 9 months. I’m done. On the first, suspecting the battery was prematurely drained, I took it to the jeweler to get a new battery. He said there was nothing wrong with the battery. I was within the warranty period for the second watch. When I inquired, I was told that it meant shipping the watch overseas for about 3 months to be fixed. Wow. So in reality, it's a disposable item that is not likely to work as long as warranted, much less several years. Time to find another brand.

An excellent replacement for the old camper watch
Color: Black/Black/Black
I wore Timex camer watches for much of my adult life. I prefer the analog wind-up versions, but they are not widely available at a reasonable price. I purchased this model for its large easy to read face and durable strap. The Indiglo feature is a bonus.

Favorite watch / solar
Color: Green/Green
I'm partial... I have bought Timex my intire life, they no doubt make the best watches... They take a licking, but keep on ticking is there old commercials.. True.. Great quality, keeps going after many year's... I never bought a solar watch from them prior I have to mention... It should hold up I'm thinking like their battery watches, I hope so. My favorite watch, I own a handful. Watch looks better in person... Downfall, they are trying a new band out of recycled plastic, I don't like it as much as the older bands it's soft, but feels a little strange...

Solar powered
Color: Green/Green
Great watch for us older folks. The hands are large enough to see easily and the fact it is solar powered means batteries do not have to be replaced every year or two.
