Philodendron Verrucosum ‘Incensi Compactum’ — Philodendron verrucosum — velvety jungle compact beauty
Fast EU shipping | Grown with love in the EU | Pet-safe (mildly toxic if ingested — keep out of reach)
Summary: This compact jungle gem sports thick, fuzzy green leaves with dramatic veins — perfect for cultivating a lush, luxe indoor oasis in German apartments and cozy European homes.
✨ Why You’ll Love It
- Striking velvet foliage with bold, contrasting veins—adds instant wow-factor
- Compact size (~25 cm tall in P14 pot)—fits effortlessly on shelves, desks, or side tables
- Ideal for indoor terrariums or small-planter collections—makes a statement in any room
- Well-suited to moderate indoor climates across Germany and the EU
🌞 Light & Placement
Thrives in bright, indirect light—avoid harsh midday sun that may scorch the leaf fuzz. East- or north-facing windows are ideal for balanced growth in European homes.
💧 Water & Humidity
Water when the top 2 cm of soil starts to dry—typically every 7–10 days. Prefers humidity above 60 %—use a pebble tray, misting, or place near other tropical plants to boost moisture.
🪴 Soil & Potting
Plant in an airy, well-draining mix (orchid bark, coco coir, perlite). Repot every 1–2 years or when roots fill the P14 — ensure a snug but comfortable fit.
🐾 Toxicity & Safety
Contains calcium oxalate—mildly toxic if ingested. Keep out of reach of children and pets, and consider placing on higher shelves or stands in family or animal-friendly households.
🌱 Growth & Propagation
Slow to moderate grower—gains new leaves steadily under ideal care. Easily propagated via stem cuttings—perfect for sharing plant babies across the EU.
📆 Seasonal & Special Care
During winter months (Oct–Mar), maintain indoor temps above 18 °C and reduce watering slightly. Keep humidity consistent—avoid placing near heaters or busy drafty zones.
🐛 Common Issues
- Leaf browning? Often due to low humidity—mist regularly or group with other plants.
- Pale veins or slow growth? Likely insufficient light—move to brighter location.
- Pest alert: Spider mites & mealybugs thrive in dry indoor air—inspect leaves weekly and treat promptly.
🧬 Botanical Background
A heart-leaf jewel from Central America, P. verrucosum is prized for its luxurious fuzz and dramatic venation. ‘Incensi Compactum’ is a rare, compact cultivar perfect for collecting and showcasing.
