A Story of Sharing and Connection: The Tiger Lily's Journey

One stand I found was in northeast Texas. As I drove by, I saw tiger lilies surrounding every tree at this old home. I knocked on the door and an older lady and her physically fit, middle-aged son answered. I explained what we do at the Southern Bulb Company, and the son said he would gladly share the black bulbils, (the tiny bulbs from which you can eventually grow a full sized tiger lily plant).

The gentleman, who told me he had served our country in the Army's Special Forces, walked around with me and explained his unsuccessful experience in trying to save the bulbils. Apparently, he found, they do not like to be stacked and left in a coffee can in the garage. "You can't treat them like seeds," he told me. "They'll rot on ya!" I could tell that horticulture had become his passion, and I promised him I'd plant them right away.

I thanked him, both for his military service and for his horticultural service.

Planting and Care for Your Tiger Lilies

Tiger lilies prefer a woodland setting with acidic soil and afternoon shade during their summer blooming season

Planting Time: Plant as soon as you receive the bulbs. If delayed, store them in the refrigerator.
Planting Location: Choose a spot with about 8 hours of summer sun and well-drained soil. Don't plant during a hard freeze.
Planting Depth: Plant bulbs 2-3 times their height deep (e.g., a 2-inch bulb should be planted 4-5 inches deep).
Watering: Provide ample water as their foliage begins to appear in March and April.

Tiger Lily Multiplication: A Gardener's Delight

Once the blooms are coming to an end, knock off the bulbils and gently scratch them into the soil. With rich organic soil and some moisture, you'll have a stand of Tiger Lilies in just a few years

Simple, effective, strong and low profile even for shallow drawers

I picked up the iSPECLE 4 Pack Spice Drawer Organizer because I was trying to finally get my spice drawer organized in a way that actually made sense and stayed that way. My bottles were always rolling around or getting buried, so I wanted something low profile that would keep everything visible and easy to reach. The design is really solid and feels more durable than the plastic organizers I have used before. The steel wire construction gives it a sturdy, stable feel, and it does not slide around when opening and closing the drawer. The anti slip base helps keep everything in place, which is important when you are constantly pulling spices in and out while cooking. What I like most is how the tiered layout makes everything visible at a glance. Instead of digging through bottles or shifting things around, I can actually see all my spices right away. It makes cooking a lot smoother because I am not wasting time searching for what I need. Since it comes as a 4 pack, I was able to use the organizers in two drawers and arrange everything I had plus a little extra room for the collection of small bottles of hot sauces I have. My home is older so the drawers are on the narrow side, and low profile, so the rack's super low profile design means I can still close the drawers easily without anything jamming. That was something I was a little concerned about, but it ended up fitting nicely. There is no complicated setup, which I appreciate. I just placed the inserts in the drawer and started organizing right away. Once in place, they stay put and do not need constant adjustment. Overall, it is a simple but very effective spice organization system. The build quality feels strong, it keeps everything visible and accessible, and it has made my kitchen feel much more organized and easier to use day to day.

Perfect Fit! Completely transformed my chaotic spice drawer.

I used to waste so much time digging through a cluttered drawer, shuffling bottles around, and accidentally buying duplicates because things were buried. Sturdy, with multiple uses around the kitchen and the rest of the house too

These racks have a slim line and they are quite versatile in terms of arranging, which makes them easy to fit with a variety of drawer measurements. The angle of the stepped section is great- enough to make the labels on your bottles easily visible, but not so sharply angled that the edges of the jars are likely to block closing the drawer (and thus be useless). The listing makes it easy to determine whether they will fit. Round jars will also be stable in these racks, and you can double-stack the shorter spice jars. They would also be great for organizing jars of sprinkles and sanding sugars in your baking area. The racks are very sturdy and well made. The coated finish does make it easy to clean by just wiping with a damp sponge. I also found a use for them in my craft room, where they hold multiple containers of glitter and make it very easy to find what I am looking for in a range of similar colors. I have a lot of my glitter in a metal cart, and the rack can be placed over the edge of the cart, so it's also easy to layer some smaller containers underneath and lift the rack in one movement to access those. I've also considered using them as thread racks. I think you could probably come up with any number of handy uses for them. Overall I'd say these are an excellent value for the money and probably an even better value in terms of saving you time and aggravation when looking for the spices, sprinkles (or glitter!) you want to use.
