The flowers in the 100% General Purpose Wildflower meadow seed mix are yellow, purple and white with a hint of red - it's a wildflower mix reminiscent of the traditional English country meadow. The mix contains a range of seeds that are suitable for most open sunny sites.

This mixture contains 100% wildflower seed, with NO GRASSES, and is ideal for those situations where you wish to sow on established grass. Likewise, it can be sown straight on to a weed-free seedbed. This mix is 100% native UK origin.

Contains over 15 varieties that are identified by the RHS as beneficial for the pollinators in your garden.

This mix is the one used by Monty Don on episode 21 of BBC Gardeners World when Monty showed how to sow a wildflower meadow in August 2019. It contains the priority species that Monty Don recommended: Cowslip, Birds Foot Trefoil, and Scabious. In addition to the must have meadow-maker, Yellow Rattle.

100% General Purpose Wildflower Seed Mix Information

When to Sow: Throughout the year (bar the depths of winter) but best results from August to October then March to April.
Soil / Site Conditions: Most, but sunny site.
How to Sow:

Sowing of Wildflower seeds can take place through most of the year (bar the depths of winter). But generally, the most successful time is August to October (following natures natural cycle) and then by March to April.

General Purpose Wildflower Seed Mix can be used to overseed into existing grass, provided the sward comprises only fine leaved grasses and does not include ryegrass, agricultural species or weeds.

Existing Grass
Firstly mow the grass area very short. Using a rake or harrow, the grass then needs to be raked to remove the thatch (the layer of dead grass and moss that builds up on the soil surface). If necessary, then use a 3 pronged hoe to break up the soil surface. This ‘scarification’ is really important; the seed must be able to reach the soil surface. Aim for at least 50% bare soil, preferably more - as Monty says you need to beat the hell out of the grass! Broadcast the seed at a rate of 2gm per sq metre (The seed can be mixed with sharp sand to ensure a more even spread). Walk over the seeded area ensuring that the total ground is walked upon. This is to ensure that the seeds are in contact with the soil, which is vital for germination.

Seedbed
General Purpose Wildflower Seed Mix performs best in low nutrient soils, which haven’t been heavily fertilised in the past. For best results sow into bare soil after clearing all existing plants and weeds from the area.

Cultivate the ground to a depth of 10cm to relieve compaction and create a fine level tilth, free from obstructions (to allow for mowing at a later stage). Finish the seedbed by treading or lightly rolling the area, so that it is firm enough to stand on without leaving indentations.

Care:

Year 1
Perennial species can be slow to establish and are unlikely to flower in the first year. Annual species will generally flower in year one. During the first year remove any weeds which grow before they run to seed. Weed growth is common due to the action of disturbing the ground. The area can be cut once the flowers have died back in the autumn. We recommend leaving the area undisturbed for as long as possible, ideally until February / March (before the first spring growth). The dead flowers and stems provide a diverse environment which is a haven for wildlife through the winter months. Cut the area down to around 10cm using a scythe, strimmer or mower, leaving the cuttings for up to a week before removing. This will allow them to dry and shed seeds back into the soil.

Year 2
After twelve months the sward should be well established and requires little additional maintenance. Simply follow the same annual cut pattern (either in spring or autumn depending on your preference). As an ongoing process, observe and remove any weeds which invade the area. Over time, some species within the mixture may become more dominant due to environmental factors and natural selection. To encourage diversity, simply reduce the number of dominant plants in order to restore the balance.

Germination of wildflower seeds can be erratic and some species require vernalisation before germination in spring of the following year, e.g. a period of prolonged cold temperatures.

Be aware that it can take several years for the meadow to become established, patience is required, just as in nature!

Very poor delivery and unboxing experience
Size: 34, Size: 34
2/12/26 Shipping was beyond poor. Amazon packaged this in a oversized box with no padding. Monitor box inside was damaged, but product seems ok. I was initially going to return and left a scathing feedback review for amazon delivery being beyond poor, when I requested a call there service kept hanging up on me. Shame on you Amazon, unfortunately I am removing one star for that. Now onto the real review... Monitor is sharp with no dead pixels, however the protective film is weird. So weird I thought I had received a used product, when I went to peel the film the sticker ripped and I had to carefully inspect to discover there was actually film and not someone pulling one over on amazon on a return. One star removed for that horrible film experience, it was very jarring. There is no height adjustment only tilt, which is fine nothing unexpected there. Stand is actually quality and is a Metal Injection Molding (MIM) material which is impressive for the price, not weighted plastic like some of the higher end brands. I like that there is no horrible blue light signaling the monitor is on, but that can be a turn off for some as the black levels of monitor can confuse someone into thinking it is not working. However if you are a photographer or a gamer this is a huge plus. Kudus to CRUA for doing that. I will update review upon testing to see if product needs less stars or if amazon wants to chime in on their part in this experience to add stars back. CRUA get on amazon so you can be a solid 4 stars! At this point I would recommend, but beware the film.

CRUA delivers in price and panel quality, but stumbles in build quality
If they could just solve their quality control issues then this might be one of the best monitors I have purchased for the price it is offered at. Major monitor brands should be absolutely ashamed that this comes within striking quality of monitors are 3-6x its price. My only advice to anyone else looking to buy this is to get an extended warranty for it because CRUA does have serious quality control issues and weak components. But the actual panel, colors, etc are way above the asking price. I am absolutely floored.

This monitor is spectacular for the price. I am very pleased with it.
Size: 27 Inch
It arrived in tact and has zero blemishes or dead pixels. That's saying something when you have this many pixels too. The Freesync works great, it's fairly bright and the colors are amazing. They need to be detuned quite a lot since the gamut is way higher than most content is created for. Gaming is fantastic. I do not seem to have the advertised 1080P high FPS mode though. Perhaps they crossed up some of the promotional information for a different model. Still, I am very much enjoying 160Hz at 4k. I am playing through games again just to see them so clearly, and that's going from a 2k monitor of the same size. This display is superior. I wish the power button that's modeled to look like a joystick actually was one, don't be caught off guard by that. It's just a button. I knew that when I bought it but still. Kinda... iffy to make it look like one. I mounted the monitor on an arm. It weighs very little so it was easy. I never used the included stand, but it's very sturdy and I love that is flips vertically too. The headphone jack works nicely for my powered speakers and it switches between display port and HDMI correctly. My last monitor had to be restarted each time I went back to Display Port to get audio back. This monitor at the price I paid is insanely good. I'd been waiting for years for a good 4K panel with high refresh rate at 27". By far my favorite monitor size. I have zero intention of changing or upgrading from this panel until μLED is finally available. If this panel dies, I will get another until then.

Great with one annoyance
Very nice + hi-res. Each pixel is sharp thanks, I presume, to IPS. One criticism: there's no way to tell whether it's supposed to be 'on', except by seeing a picture. Very frustrating when the graphics card and the monitor at startup both kind of go: "Are you on? No? Then I'll turn back off." for what seems like 2 seconds and you have to try to guess whether the monitor is actually on. You can look down the slots at the back for lights, but one that's easier to see would be nice. Anyway, as you'll have seen, it has a literal 15:10 aspect ratio (even better than 16:10) so this is a rare monitor that's better for documents than the 16:9 monitors that are made for movies. I think the monitor may be a little small for ~4K, but you can't complain for the price. Would buy again, but please, give it an 'on' light.

I works fine so far as work display, not the cheapest but metal stand legs and overall good quality
Except the tiny stereo speakers that are a joke , just marketing since they are utterly useless as volume is so low. The 3 or 4 inputs available is great addition. The panel input buttons on the side works ergonomically when changing inputs and brightness (you will be changing brightness a lot during the day, trust me. It is not very bright but with 100%brightness is barely usable in low light indoor, at night it needs to go down to 25 ~20% instead. The images, (text) is crisp since 4K+ and extra lines gives more screen space for working , not the ideal format to watch movies as you know.Any case, I like it and recommend it. Color gamut and HDR 10 is just marketing but for text display and working space , works fine
