Summary: With its elegant silver-green foliage and compact, upright shape, Aglaonema 'Silver Queen' Compact brings a calm, refined jungle feel to shelves, desks, and side tables. This easy-care indoor plant is ideal for European homes and perfect for German apartments thanks to its tolerance for lower light and relaxed watering needs.

✨ Why You'll Love the Aglaonema 'Silver Queen' Compact

  • Beautiful lance-shaped leaves splashed with soft silver and green
  • Compact growth habit that fits smaller spaces without losing visual impact
  • Excellent choice for lower-light rooms, hallways, and home offices
  • Low-maintenance and beginner-friendly
  • Great for adding texture to modern, minimalist, or urban jungle interiors
  • Pot size: 14 cm
  • Approximate height: 45 cm

🌞 Light & Placement

Aglaonema 'Silver Queen' Compact thrives in bright, indirect light but is also well known for handling medium to lower light conditions better than many tropical houseplants. Avoid harsh direct sun, especially in south-facing European windows, as it can scorch the leaves and fade the silver patterning.

It is a wonderful indoor plant for European homes, especially in bedrooms, living rooms, and offices with filtered light. In German apartments, place it near an east- or north-facing window, or a few steps back from a brighter window.

💧 Water & Humidity

Allow the top 2–4 cm of soil to dry before watering. Water thoroughly, then let excess moisture drain away fully. This plant prefers lightly moist soil, but it is far more forgiving of slight drying out than soggy roots.

Average household humidity is usually enough, making it a practical choice for indoor plants in European homes. During the dry winter heating season, a little extra humidity can help keep the leaf tips looking their best.

🪴 Soil & Potting

Use a loose, well-draining houseplant mix with ingredients such as coco coir or peat-free substrate, perlite, and a little bark for airflow around the roots. A pot with drainage holes is essential.

Repot every 1–2 years in spring if the plant becomes root-bound. Since this is a compact cultivar, it does not need frequent upsizing and often looks best slightly snug in its pot.

🐾 Toxicity & Safety

Aglaonema 'Silver Queen' Compact is not pet-safe. Like other Aglaonema, it is considered toxic if chewed or ingested and may irritate the mouth and stomach of cats, dogs, and humans. Keep out of reach of curious pets and small children.

🌱 Growth & Propagation

This plant has a slow to moderate growth rate indoors and forms a neat, bushy clump with upright stems and arching leaves. Its compact form makes it especially suitable for smaller urban homes.

Propagation is usually done by division or by separating basal shoots during repotting. Mature plants may also be propagated from stem sections, though this is better suited to experienced plant keepers.

📆 Seasonal & Special Care

During spring and summer, feed monthly with a balanced liquid houseplant fertiliser at half strength. In autumn and winter, growth naturally slows, so reduce watering and pause feeding.

Because European winters often bring lower light levels, it is normal for the plant to grow more slowly during the colder months. Keep it away from cold drafts, radiators, and temperatures below 16°C.

🐛 Common Issues

  • Yellow leaves: Usually caused by overwatering or poor drainage
  • Brown tips: Can result from dry air, inconsistent watering, or mineral-heavy tap water
  • Faded leaf pattern: Often a sign the plant needs brighter indirect light
  • Drooping stems: May indicate thirst, root stress, or cold exposure
  • Pests: Occasionally susceptible to spider mites, mealybugs, and scale

🧬 Botanical Background

Aglaonema, commonly known as Chinese Evergreen, belongs to the Araceae family and is native to tropical and subtropical regions of Asia. 'Silver Queen' is one of the most beloved Aglaonema cultivars, prized for its elegant silver variegation and adaptability as an indoor plant. The compact form offers the same timeless beauty in a more space-friendly size, ideal for modern European interiors.

Pups Love
Color: Green, Size: Medium (2-1/2 in, (Pack of 1)), Color: Green, Size: Medium (2-1/2 in, (Pack of 1))
As you can see from the photo, my pup absolutely loves it! It’s the perfect size for him and for reference he’s 25 pounds. It’s got a nice weight to it, but it’s soft enough to be able to throw and not worry about damaging the walls. We just started playing with it today, but it seems very durable.

Fun for the first day, but just get the round balls.
Color: Green, Size: Medium (2-1/2 in (Pack of 2))
These balls do work, but they bouncy pretty much like a regular chuck it ball. They do NOT fit in the chuck it handheld ball launcher, which makes them a pain to throw. The green color also makes them somewhat challenging to find when the grass is long. That said, they do work as intended, and the dogs like them the same as all the other chuck it balls we own. As the person who had to throw them, my advice would be to just get the round balls that fit in the ball launcher. Durability: 9/10 they hood together better than the traditional balls without the hole (that crack down the seam over time). These have yet to crack despite the same wear and tear. Pros: durable, dogs like them, they do sink in water Cons: green color, hard to fit in handheld ball launcher

Winner!
Color: Green, Size: Medium (2-1/2 in (Pack of 2))
I recently got the BOUNCY DOG BALL TOY for my fur baby, and I'm thrilled to say that it's a total winner! The best feature of this interactive dog toy is its erratic bounce, which keeps my pup on their toes and makes every playtime session full of surprises. The squared corners of the ball cause it to bounce every which way when thrown, making it an exciting challenge for my dog to catch. And because it's compatible with the Chuckit! Ball Launchers, we can play fetch for hours on end without ever getting bored. One thing I love about this fetch toy is its durability. It's made of tough rubber that can withstand even the most aggressive chewers, and it's super easy to clean after a long day of play. Plus, with two balls included, we always have a backup when one inevitably gets lost.

good for puppies who like to eat pee pads
Color: Blue, Size: 28" x 34"
this is the only holder that worked for my puppy who loved chewing up pee pads!! good quality holder and the peace of mind makes the price worth it. it's easy to clean if they pee on the edges and helps puppies learn to stay on the pad. only downside in my opinion is that i have to fold the pee pad to make it fit well... not too much of an issue since pee pads already have a crease in them :) definitely recommend!! and i already bought two lol

Keeps the pad in place, and looks great.
Color: Dark Gray, Size: 14" x 17", Color: Dark Gray, Size: 14" x 17"
We bought this pee pad tray when we got our little Yorkie. We bought everything to match our white and gray home decor, so this was perfect for that. It's super easy to use. We buy the 22x22 Amazon brand pee pads, and they fit just right, and work great. You can put it on without fussing with folding anything if you want, but it's also very easy to fold the edges really quick for a cleaner look. We do both depending on how busy we are. I've attached pictures of what it looks like either way you do it, and how it looks in the kennel. It's nice that the tray still closes just fine without folding the edges on those busy mornings, and we are very pleased with it. It's very easy to clean. Usually we just swap the pad out, but we use Lysol wipes most of the time, because sometimes he tracks a little smear here or there on the ring of the tray. I'd soak it once a month just to get a full clean, but the pads are pretty good, so the Lysol wipes are sufficient for the most part. Our puppy was not affected by adding this tray to the pee pads he was originally trained on. It actually gave us peace of mind when he was tiny and would sometimes play with the pads. He didn't do it often, but he can't do it with this tray, which is good to know. It looks so nice in his kennel. We have this on one side, and his bed on the other. He's a small dog, so I don't know how well this size would work for a dog bigger than 20-25lbs full grown. Our's will only be 5-6lbs full grown and he has no trouble keeping everything on the tray, and has room for multiple potty times. I want to note that this tray is not 17x17 on the outside. That's the measurement of the pads you should get. It's more rectangular. If I remember, I will look for the measurements and add them to this review once posted, because I didn't realize the actual size when I ordered. UPDATED:Dimensions: 19.33"L x 16.53"W x 1.18"H Luckily, it fits perfect in half of our 24×36inch kennel, and I'm glad it's not any smaller or bigger. It would not have worked for our needs. I do recommend this. It helps with the look/aesthetics of your pups kennel, and protects the pad from the puppy flipping it and playing with it. It also keeps the mess from getting on his bedding, which makes life a little easier. I hope this and these pictures help. UPDATE 7/2/20: Our Yorkie is now basically full grown and just over 5lbs vs the 2lbs he was in these picture, and he still fits perfectly on the tray with a couple inches on each side to spare. I also wanted to update that this didn't seem to slow, and definitely didn't stop his progress in potty training outside, which was a big concern of mine. Once we got really focused with taking him out on schedule, &ALWAYS AS SOON AS he opened his eyes, then of course rewarding with praise &a half of a little training treat after each time using the potty, as well as any time he alerted us that he needed to go outside. He is totally potty trained outside right now, and has been since around or before the holidays. We still keep this in his kennel for those times we may over sleep or when we're not at home incase he can't hold it, especially since he's still a puppy. He has had an occasion pee or poop on the pee pad over the last 7mnths, but it's been rare. I still plan to keep this in until he gets a little older. I'd much rather just switch a pad out than clean a big mess, and launder all of his bedding because of an accident.
