Product Information

Sunflower 'Autumn Beauty' is a stunning variety of sunflower known for its vibrant and multi-colored blooms.

'Autumn Beauty' sunflowers produce large, single-stemmed flowers with a range of colors including shades of yellow, gold, bronze, red, and sometimes burgundy. Each flower typically has multiple rings of petals, creating a stunning, multi-colored effect.

These sunflowers can grow quite tall, reaching heights of around 5 to 7 feet or even taller in optimal conditions, creating a dramatic presence in the garden.

'Autumn Beauty' sunflowers bloom from late summer into fall, showcasing their vibrant and varied-colored flowers. Each plant can produce multiple flowers, extending the blooming period.

The plant's foliage consists of large, coarse, heart-shaped leaves that provide a lush backdrop to the colorful blooms.

'Autumn Beauty' sunflowers thrive in well-drained, fertile soil and prefer full sun. They're relatively adaptable and can tolerate various soil types but perform best in moderately rich soil.

These sunflowers are popular for their ornamental value in gardens, borders, and as cut flowers due to their striking and varied colors. They also attract pollinators like bees and birds.

'Autumn Beauty' sunflowers are generally low-maintenance. Deadheading spent blooms can encourage continuous flowering, and they have good drought tolerance once established.

With their spectacular and diverse colors, 'Autumn Beauty' sunflowers make a bold and eye-catching addition to gardens and landscapes, providing a burst of color well into the fall season.~~~

Wildflower Planting Time Based on Region:

Southeast

  • Fall, Winter: Sowing wildflowers in Fall/Winter is the ideal time in the Southeast, with October 1 – December 31 being the best dates. The weather is ideal for starting seeds, and seedlings can grow and harden off before frost.
  • Spring: A good time to plant wildflowers, especially annual species that flower quickly. Plant after the last frost date when soil temperatures have warmed to around 55°F, typically occurring within a month or so after the final frost of winter; this ensures the seeds can germinate properly without being affected by cold weather.
  • Summer: You can plant wildflower seeds in the summer, but the hot sun can dry out the soil and stress your seedlings. Summer is a good time to plant quick-growing annual wildflowers.

Southwest

  • Fall: A good time to plant spring wildflowers in the desert Southwest. Fall's cooler temperatures and seasonal rains help seeds germinate. In the mountains, you can plant after spring frosts.
  • Winter: In areas that get snow, winter seeding can give seeds an advantage in the spring.
  • Spring: A popular time to plant wildflowers in most states. You can plant after the last frost and when the soil temperature is at least 55°F. In warmer climates, you can plant at the end of the rainy season.
  • Summer: You can plant wildflower seeds in the summer, but the hot sun can dry out the soil and stress your seedlings. Summer is a good time to plant quick-growing annual wildflowers.

Northeast

  • Fall, Winter: The best time to plant wildflowers in the Northeast is in late fall, after the first frost but before heavy snow. This is known as dormant seeding and can take place from November to December. Cold temperatures and damp soil during the winter help wildflower seeds germinate.
  • Spring: Plant in early spring, after the ground has thawed and soil temperatures reach around 55-65°F. This is a popular time to plant wildflowers because it's typically rainier, which helps water seedlings.
  • Summer: You can plant wildflower seeds in the summer, but the hot sun can dry out the soil and stress your seedlings. Summer is a good time to plant quick-growing annual wildflowers.

Midwest

  • Fall, Winter: Plant in late fall (November–December) after the first frost. The seeds will overwinter and germinate in the spring. Fall planting is a good option for cooler climates and can give the seeds an early start in the spring.
  • Spring: Plant in early spring (April–May) after the last frost when the soil temperature is consistently above 55°F. Spring is a popular time to plant because the soil is usually moist from rain, and you can see the wildflowers grow right away.
  • Summer: You can plant wildflower seeds in the summer, but the hot sun can dry out the soil and stress your seedlings. Summer is a good time to plant quick-growing annual wildflowers.

Western

Pacific Northwest

  • Fall, Winter: Plant in late fall (November–December) after the first frost. The seeds will overwinter and germinate in the spring. Fall planting is a good option for cooler climates and can give the seeds an early start in the spring.

  • Summer: In cooler zones with higher elevation, you can plant wildflowers in late spring to early summer, after the risk of frost has passed. You can plant wildflower seeds in the summer, but the hot sun can dry out the soil and stress your seedlings. Summer is a good time to plant quick-growing annual wildflowers.

Favorite fetch
We have a 70 lb Aussie and a 13 lb Havanese who compete with each other to fetch toys. This hedgehog is their favorite, largely due to the loud assertive squeak. Our big dog is a chewer and has a history of getting to any squeaker in a toy, once nearly choking when successfully removing one from a smaller toy. She still tries to chew on this toy, going straight for the nose but has not yet gotten to the squeaker which is large enough that I don't believe would be a choking hazard if she did get to it. No soft toy is indestructible, but compared to other plush toys, this is more durable. Once the nose has been chewed off, I have simply hand stitched the hole closed and from then on she's no longer interested in chewing through it. Have run through the wash and comes out fine. When one eventually wears out I order a replacement and the 2 puppies compete once again over ownership.

Great toy
My dog loves this. The squeaker did break with in 24 hours, but that is most likely because my dog is an aggressive chewer! she still loves it and plays with it even though it no longer squeaks. Not good for dogs who like to pull the stuffing out!
