Chunky Perlite – Large, Popcorn-Expanded Perlite for Aeration & Drainage
Sol Soils Chunky Perlite is a premium soil amendment made from naturally occurring volcanic glass. When heated, it expands like popcorn into lightweight, porous granules that transform potting mixes. The large particle size improves soil structure by creating air pockets, enhancing oxygen flow, and allowing excess water to drain freely. Trusted by orchid growers, succulent collectors, and houseplant enthusiasts, this chunky perlite helps prevent compaction and keeps roots thriving.
Key Features
- Large Particle Size: Expands 7–16× its original volume to maximize airflow in soil.
- Lightweight & Porous: Reduces compaction and keeps root systems breathable.
- Superior Drainage: Prevents soggy soil and reduces risk of root rot.
- Neutral pH: Safe and effective for orchids, succulents, bonsai, and tropical houseplants.
Why Use Chunky Perlite?
- Healthy Root Growth: Oxygen-rich media promotes strong root development.
- Overwatering Protection: Rapid drainage maintains ideal moisture balance.
- Versatile Applications: Blend with potting soil, coco coir, or bonsai mix for customized growing media.
How to Use
- Soil Amendment: Mix 10–30% perlite into your potting media for improved aeration.
- Top Dressing: Apply a thin layer on soil surface to increase evaporation and discourage pests.
