Tillandsia caput-medusae is a captivating stemless airplant that lives up to its mythological name. Its long, sinuous leaves emerge from a pseudobulb base, creating a mesmerizing tangle reminiscent of Medusa's serpentine locks. The plant's size varies dramatically, from compact 10 cm specimens thriving in arid gulches to impressive 35 cm giants in more favorable conditions.

The leaves are covered with coarse, cinereous trichomes, especially prominent on the abaxial surface, giving the plant a silvery, otherworldly appearance. Leaf tips are often contorted and subulate, adding to its sculptural allure. When in bloom, T. caput-medusae produces a spectacular inflorescence with two to six spikes. The floral bracts range from attractive cherry to deep blood-red, contrasting beautifully with mauve corollas.

Collector's Note: This species is renowned for its resilience, tolerating poor conditions and neglect better than many other Tillandsia. However, its myrmecophytic nature requires careful watering to prevent rot.

Care Tips: Mount or hang the plant sideways to upside-down to prevent water accumulation in the base. Provide bright light, good air circulation, and allow to dry completely between waterings. Responds well to regular fertilization during active growth periods.

I've had the kit for about a month. This matcha kit would be good for beginners just trying to get into making drinks at home. While I am not as experienced with matcha, I feel you could get a better ensemble to whisk your matcha. Mine is still holding up. I've made around 15 drinks probably? But I can't see the whisk holding on for longer than 3 months. The whisk quality is not very good. The whisk mixes well, but it has a tendency for the bristles to break and bits of bamboo to end up in your drink. The rest of the kit is holding up pretty well. The look of it is cute and minimalistic. Everything is easy to clean, though I think matcha kits are not meant to get very dirty besides coming in contact with matcha and water. If you mix anything else with this kit, I am not sure how well the bamboo will hold up in regards to mold.
