Cockscomb Red - Desi Flower Seeds

Discover the vibrant beauty of Cockscomb Red, a stunning addition to any garden. Known for its unique, crest-like flower heads resembling a rooster's comb, this annual plant (Celosia argentea) brings a splash of color and texture to your outdoor space. With its striking red hue, Cockscomb Red not only enhances your garden aesthetics but also attracts pollinators, making it a favorite among gardeners and nature lovers alike.

What makes Cockscomb Red special is its resilience and adaptability. Thriving in various soil types and conditions, this hardy flower can withstand heat and drought, making it an excellent choice for low-maintenance gardens. Its vibrant blooms can last for weeks, providing continuous color from summer to fall, while its unique shape adds an artistic flair to floral arrangements.

Special features of Cockscomb Red include its ability to grow in poor soil and its impressive height, reaching up to 3 feet. Additionally, the flowers are edible and can be used in salads or as garnishes, offering both beauty and utility. This plant is also known for its medicinal properties, traditionally used in various cultures for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits.

Growing Instructions:

  • Sow seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost or directly outdoors after the danger of frost has passed.
  • Plant seeds ¼ inch deep in well-draining soil, spacing them 12-18 inches apart.
  • Provide full sun for optimal growth; Cockscomb thrives in warm temperatures (70°F to 85°F).

Care Instructions:

  • Water regularly, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings to prevent root rot.
  • Fertilize with a balanced fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season.
  • Deadhead spent blooms to encourage new growth and prolong flowering.

Uses:

  • Ideal for borders, flower beds, and container gardening.
  • Perfect for cut flower arrangements, adding a unique texture and color.
  • Edible flowers can be used in salads, soups, and as garnishes.

Fun Facts:

  • Cockscomb flowers have been cultivated for centuries, with origins tracing back to Africa and Asia.
  • The unique shape of the flower head is a result of a genetic mutation, making it a fascinating subject for botanical studies.
  • Cockscomb Red is not only beautiful but also beneficial for the environment, attracting bees and butterflies, which are crucial for pollination.

Not too shabby
Color: White
I was skeptical but I read the reviews before purchasing. I had a $500 Roomba previously that worked six months then died. Using the warranty on those is almost impossible. So I took a chance. Cons: will fling itself down ledges and stairs. Like any robot cleaner, hates cords and plastic bags. Gets stuck now and then. You need to rinse out dust filter each time. Pros: runs a LONG time. Picks up all the dust and hair my Roomba did. Much cheaper. Has an app that you can supposedly program. Not too noisy. Beeps if it needs help. Charges well. Cats dig it. All in all I would buy one again. Robot vacuums are not for grime, they are for dust, hair, bits of cat litter. Keep that in mind. But in keeping your floor free of cords and debris that might trip it up, it helps you to be tidier overall.

Seems like an excellent purchase so far!
So far so good! And we really appreciated the little hair cutting tool for the roller—nice touch. We've replaced one bag, one brush head, and one filter using this bargain kit so far, nothing much to complain about. It's not quite OEM quality but it's very likely going to work well enough. We expect to go through one kit like this per year. Be aware that the rotating brush head replacement (the small round head ones, not the big rollers), have a little philips head screw that you have to remove. This was kind of hard to get off at first. We haven't used one of the replacement rollers yet, expect that we'll go through about two a year with our C10 at the current rate of wear.
