German Chamomile has been cultivated as a medicinal herb for thousands of years and was used by ancient Egyptians, Romans, Greeks, and Vikings. An easy care annual in the daisy family, it has small white flowers with large yellow hollow cone centers that proliferate on a bushy shrub of feathery foliage. Only the sweet apple-scented flowers are used fresh or dried, usually steeped into a soothing herbal tea that can be used as a facial tonic or sipped by kids and adults right before it’s time to go night-night.

As a companion plant, it attracts pollinators and beneficial insects; repels cabbage moths, cabbage white fly, cabbage worms, cucumber beetles, and mosquitoes; and is said to increase the fragrance and flavor of aromatic herbs such as basil, mint, oregano, rosemary, sage, and thyme.

Roman Chamomile has many of the same uses, but is a low-growing, evergreen perennial groundcover with fewer, but larger flowers. You can determine which type of Chamomile you have if you cut open the yellow center of the flower. Roman has solid centers while German has hollow ones.

As a medicinal herb, Chamomile has been used internally to treat allergies, anxiety, arthritis, asthma, colds, colic, cough, flatulence, gum disease, headache, indigestion, inflammation, insomnia, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), menstrual cramps, morning sickness, stress, nervousness, restlessness, and stomach upset, and externally to treat burns, earache, hemorrhoids, mouth sores, skin problems, sunburns, teething pain, tired eyes, toothache, and wounds.

⚠️ Do not handle or ingest if you are allergic to ragweed.

⚠️ Medicinal properties are presented as information only, and are not a recommendation or prescription for use. Consult a medical professional before using any herb medicinally.

More facts about Chamomile:

  • Chamomile helps combat headaches, toothaches, and earaches.
  • Sometimes known as "the plant doctor", because it is thought to help the growth and health of many other plants, especially ones that produce essential oils.
  • Thought to increase production of those oils, making certain herbs, like mints (spearmint, sage, oregano) and basil stronger in scent and flavor.
  • Can be taken as a herbal tea, two teaspoons of dried flower per cup of tea, which should be steeped for ten to fifteen minutes while covered to avoid evaporation of the volatile oils.

Chamomile is a versatile plant with numerous health benefits. Whether enjoyed as a soothing tea or used in skincare products, chamomile can provide relaxation, reduce inflammation, and promote overall well-being.

In addition to its calming effects, chamomile also possesses anti-inflammatory properties. It can help reduce inflammation and soothe skin irritations, making it a popular ingredient in skincare products. Chamomile creams and lotions are used to alleviate conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, and sunburn.

Furthermore, chamomile has been found to have antimicrobial properties, which can help fight against bacteria and fungi. It has been used to treat various infections, including those of the skin and respiratory system. Chamomile mouthwashes and gargles are also used to relieve oral inflammation and promote oral health.

It is important to note that while chamomile is generally considered safe for most people, some individuals may have allergic reactions to the plant. It is recommended to perform a patch test before using chamomile products topically and to consult with a healthcare professional if you have any concerns or medical conditions.

This peel works amazingly for me.
I wish I could buy a million bottles if this thing has an indefinite shelf life. It feels like the 20% glycolic acid peels I used to have once a week and gives me the same amazing results minus the skin peeling. It does tingle my skin but the sensation doesn’t last more than 10 minutes on me, definitely tolerable and I don’t get any lasting damage from it, my face doesn’t even turn red for more than 5 seconds. It’s just like putting a serum on my face with this product versus prepping my skin and putting on acids, set up a timer and wash it off. So much more convenient and so much more pleasant texture. Forget about the hydrating part, this thing is effectively a chemical peel so know your skin and patch test on your chin to see if you can tolerate it. If you can’t but really want to use it I guess you can always put it on and wash it off after a few minutes to see if you can eventually build up tolerance. This is an amazing product just have your expectations straight and know it’s strong and might not be for you, but if it is for you then I’m 99% sure you’ll love it like I do! Edit: 4th time using it and my skin already not tingling nearly as much, almost none exist tonight. I’m so excited! I’m on 0.05% tretinoin every night and 15% azelaic acid morning and night. I skip tret on milk peel night but keep the azelaic acid. Pore size already improved.

Impressive results!
Impressive results! The Prequel Multi-Acid Milk Peel has visibly softened my acne scars and evened out my skin tone within just a few weeks. As someone with mature combination skin, I appreciate that the milky formula keeps me hydrated while the 15% acids do the heavy lifting. No irritation at all—just smooth, glowing skin.

GET THIS
THIS IS IT. This needs to be a permanent beauty staple item in your toolkit! I use Dennis Gross acid wipes for my face, it has erased my melasma with maintenance of course but this stuff is THE item for your body and crepey skin. Dennis Gross wipes are too expensive and small to use over your whole body. Amlactin is amazing but it does have that signature lactic acid smell and sometimes I don’t want lotion on me. I had never heard of Prequel before this. It was cheap enough and had all the acids I was looking for. I’ve only been using it for one week and it definitely has all the lactic acid magic in it! The wrinkle bend creases on my wrists are gone. My sun damage freckles and spots are fading. It’s so fast and easy to use. It dries fast. I put it on my arms and legs every single night while watching my bedtime TV routine. I’m here to buy a second bottle. I’m not a bot! Ladies we need this. I’ll update some photos later on. I’m sad I didn’t take a before photo. Also, remember any lactic acid products you MUST wear sunscreen after/during treatment. It makes you more prone to burn. I haven’t used this on my chest area sun damage but I have used PTR acid products there and it works phenomenally. Sometimes it pills so I may switch to this for my chest.

Great results when used carefully
This is a strong exfoliating peel, and it definitely works. The milk texture spreads easily and feels controlled, but you can tell right away that this is not a beginner exfoliant. At 15% glycolic acid, it delivers noticeable smoothing and brightness when used carefully. I started slowly and kept my routine very simple afterward, focusing on hydration and barrier support. Used this way, it helped refine texture and made my skin look clearer and more even. When I increased usage too quickly, I noticed dryness, which was a good reminder that this peel needs to be respected. I would recommend this to experienced skincare users who are comfortable with chemical exfoliation and understand the importance of spacing treatments and supporting the skin barrier. It’s effective, but not something to rush or overuse. I used less than the recommended amount and it was still a little spicy for me.

Restored my glow and smoothness in ONE use!
Restored my glow and smoothness in ONE use! I am 47, and I’ve really started to notice my skin losing its natural glow and becoming a bit dull. I decided to try the Prequel Multi-Acid Milk, and I am honestly obsessed. The results were immediate—literally after one use, my skin felt incredibly soft and hydrated. I’ve been using it twice a week, and the difference is night and day. My skin looks much younger, smoother, and that healthy radiance is finally back. If you struggle with any kind of roughness or uneven texture, this is the solution. It completely clears it up. It’s rare to find a product that delivers such fast results without being harsh. If you're on the fence, definitely give it a try!
