The Opuntia Macrocentra "Purple Prickly Pear Cactus" is a stunning looking cactus due to its varying colors. They can be a very deep purple or have multiple hue combinations such as green and purple, blue and purple, green and blue, etc. They have very few spikes on them but the ones they do have are longer than usual pear cacti.
Water Tolerance: Water once a week (preferably on schedule). Allow the soil to be dry between waterings. Do not overwater as too much moisture will lead to root rot.
Soil: Enjoys gritty succulent potting soil. Feed during the growing season (winter to spring) by adding new soil. If you grow them in containers, repot them with fresh potting soil every 2 -3 years.
