Slow to Bolt, Big on Flavor — The Ultimate Cilantro for Home Cooks
‘Long Standing Santo’ is the cilantro variety serious cooks reach for. Known for its improved leafiness, exceptional flavor, and slow-bolting habit, it gives you more harvest time before going to seed — a game changer for anyone who’s watched their cilantro bolt too quickly. Also known as Chinese parsley, this versatile herb is a staple in Mexican, Caribbean, and Asian kitchens.
Growing Highlights
- Slow bolt: Extended harvest window compared to standard cilantro varieties
- Leafiness: Improved leaf coverage for bigger, more frequent harvests
- Dual use: Fresh leaves for cilantro; crushed seeds (coriander) for stews, beans, and baking
- Indoor friendly: Grow year-round on a sunny windowsill for fresh leaves anytime
- Season: Cool-weather herb — best in spring and fall; one packet sows up to 41 feet
Why Gardeners Love It
From fresh salsas and guacamole to Thai curries and Vietnamese noodle bowls, ‘Santo’ cilantro elevates every dish it touches. And when it does eventually bolt, let it go to seed — the coriander seeds are just as useful in the kitchen as the leaves.
