Dried Gaillardia Seed Heads
While Gaillardia (Blanket Flower) is known for its fiery summer petals, the seed heads it leaves behind are a secret favourite of florists. These perfectly round, fuzzy spheres add a unique, soft texture to arrangements that hard seed pods just can't match.
Think of them as nature's pom-poms. Dried to a natural palette of soft sage-green, warm tan, and toasted bronze, they bring a gentle, organic feel to any vase. They are sturdy yet soft to the touch, making them an essential ingredient for adding depth and interest to boho bouquets and autumn wreaths.

🌿 What are Gaillardia Heads?
These are the mature seed clusters of Gaillardia aristata. After the petals drop, the centre expands into a ball of soft bristles.
The Texture: Unlike the smooth, hard shell of a Poppy head, these are fibrous and fuzzy, adding warmth and softness to a display.
🎨 Styling Ideas
Gaillardia is a fantastic textural mixer:
- The Mixed Vase: Use them to break up clumps of "flat" flowers like Statice. The round shape draws the eye and adds dimension.
- Wreaths: Their fuzzy texture looks incredible against shiny holly or smooth eucalyptus leaves in winter wreaths.
- Minimalist: A simple bunch in a stoneware pot creates an effortless, earthy look perfect for neutral interiors.

Perfect Dried Companions
Enhance the fuzzy texture by pairing Gaillardia with contrasting surfaces:
- 🌾 Dried Reed Grass: Height & Air. The tall plumes of Reed Grass lift the arrangement, while the Gaura sits lower down, adding solid "dots" of interest.
- 🌸 Strawflowers (Helichrysum): The Hard & Soft Mix. The crisp, papery petals of Strawflowers contrast brilliantly with the fuzzy, soft heads of the Gaillardia.
⚠️ Delicate Stems
The stems can be quite brittle when fully dried. Handle the bunch gently by the base to avoid snapping the heads off.
