Native to Madagascar, this variety is a smaller, more manageable cultivar of the larger Kalanchoe beharensis, yet it retains the dramatic form and velvety appeal that has made the species a collector’s favourite.

The plant’s distinctive leaves are its most captivating feature. Thick and leathery, they are lobed like oak leaves, their edges gently undulating to create a bold silhouette. Each leaf is cloaked in a fine layer of silvery-grey or green hairs, lending a soft, velvety texture that shimmers in sunlight. In bright conditions, the foliage often takes on warm bronze or reddish hues, adding further seasonal interest.
