Support strong root growth and steady plant feeding with our premium houseplant compost, designed to solve the most common issues people face when growing indoor plants.

This balanced mix of coir, fine bark and sterilised soil keeps moisture levels steady while improving drainage to prevent waterlogging, helping plants stay healthy long-term. Sterilised soil is beneficial as it removes harmful pests, fungi and bacteria that can damage young plants, creating a clean, disease-free environment for seeds to germinate and roots to develop. This leads to healthier, stronger growth and higher chances of plant survival.

Enriched with volcanic rock dust for natural minerals and boosted with slow release fertiliser that feeds for up to 100 days, it creates a thriving soil environment that supports beneficial microbes. This means stronger roots, better nutrient uptake and healthier growth for every type of houseplant.

Premium Houseplant Compost With Natural Minerals

Suitable for all types of houseplants indoors and outdoors, this houseplant potting compost helps plants stay healthy in pots, containers and baskets. By feeding both your plants and the soil itself, it creates a thriving environment that supports strong, resilient growth.

Best Houseplant Compost For Root Health

Healthy roots are key to long lasting growth, and this compost provides balanced airflow, structure and moisture control. Coir, fine bark and sterilised soil keep the mix light yet supportive, while volcanic rock dust supplies essential trace minerals and peat free. This combination supports beneficial microbes within the soil, helping roots absorb nutrients more efficiently.

Houseplant Compost Benefits

  • Balanced moisture and airflow for stronger roots
  • Boosts microbial activity for improved nutrient uptake
  • Feeds plants for up to 100 days
  • Peat Free
  • Helps houseplants settle after repotting
  • Suitable for all indoor and outdoor varieties

Why This Compost Helps Prevent Overwatering

Many houseplants struggle because they are watered too often. This premixed ready-to-use compost balances water, nutrients and humidity while allowing excess water to drain away quickly. The aerated structure stops roots from sitting in moisture, creating a stable environment that reduces the risk of plant decline. When used with diatomaceous earth, it can also help manage one of the most common indoor plant issues — unintentional overwatering — by absorbing excess moisture and releasing it slowly as the plant needs it.

Balanced Ingredients For Healthy Growth

The mix of coir, fine bark, sterilised soil, volcanic rock dust and slow release fertiliser creates a balanced blend that retains moisture to meet plant needs while ensuring good drainage. Water moves through the compost easily, helping prevent waterlogging and keeping roots strong and well oxygenated.

Sizes Of Houseplant Compost Available

Available in 2 L and 10 L bags, giving you options for small top-ups or full repotting sessions. Both sizes contain the same nutrient-rich blend.

Ingredients In The Best Houseplant Compost

Each bag contains coir, fine bark and sterilised soil for structure and moisture control. Volcanic rock dust provides natural minerals, while the slow release fertiliser feeds plants for up to 100 days. These ingredients support both plant roots and the microbial life within the soil, improving long term plant vitality.

How To Repot Houseplants

To repot, choose a container with drainage holes and gently loosen the plant’s roots. Add fresh compost to the base of the pot, position the plant at its previous depth and fill around the root ball. Firm lightly without compacting, then water well and place the plant in suitable light as it settles.

Houseplant Compost Frequently Asked Questions

Nice shelves that will work with some modifications

Pay attention to the bottom shelf and where it is relative to the floor. It’s only about 6 inches, which isn’t good for a retail environment. I swapped the bottom nipples out for some 10” nipples and the results were night and day. So much better now.

Good shelves
Item Package Quantity: 1, Size: 6 Tiers
Unit was pretty easy to assemble. Shelves are sturdy and no scratches or dings. My only complaint is that there is paint missing here and there on the black pipe. We covered those spots with magic marker. I would buy it again!

An excellent collection of essays
Format: Paperback
An excellent collection of essays. A few of which deserve a brief note. As someone from within the Reformed tradition, I particularly appreciated the chapters on Calvin and the missional impulse of the Reformed branch of the Reformation (Chapters 4, 5, and 6). Karen Spiecker Stetina’s chapter on Calvin’s Geneva as a virtual mission training center to launch missionaries around Europe and elsewhere was not only enlightening but instructive. The chapter detailing the Reformed mission to Brazil (chapter 6)–while the mission itself was underwhelming in its achievements–was especially intriguing. These chapters thoroughly undue the misconception of Calvin and his followers as missionally indifferent. Turning to the Catholic portion of the essays (the book is split into two portions, one detailing Protestant mission in the 16th century, and the other, Catholic mission during that period), one will find essays dealing with spirituality surrounding missions (chapters 10 and 13), the intersection of missions and colonialism (chapters 12, 14, and 15), and the issue of accommodation in mission (chapter 11). All of which are exceptional. As someone who has spent time practicing and studying mission on the continent of Africa, I found John Thornton’s chapter on the Jesuit mission to Kongo in this section to be particularly insightful. This is partly due to the nature of the mission itself. As Thornton points out, the mission was not to evangelize but to “reform a new but vibrant Catholic Church” in Kongo (265). This chapter has much to teach contemporary mission practitioners in Subsaharan Africa as the situation is largely the same for missionaries there today: one of building up rather than evangelizing. What’s more the mission failed after only a 7 year stent. There is much here for missionaries to evangelized lands/peoples today to sit with and learn from. But perhaps the greatest benefit of the book is an expansion of an understanding of mission. Rather than viewing mission narrowly as moving to a foreign land, the essays (particularly in the Protestant section of the book), as Smither notes in the introduction, “allow Luther, Calvin, Ignatius of Loyola, Teresa of Avila, and others to define mission on their terms and through their practice” (1). One must read the book to come a full scope of how they did so; but it ranges from being light in dark places through the preaching of the true Gospel, to church planting, to the creation of training centers just to name a few (and those are just from a single chapter!). Gallagher and Smither’s Sixteenth Century Mission is an excellent contribution to the study of Christian world missions especially as it deals with an era typically thought to be devoid of what we today understand that phrase to entail. Disclaimer: I received this book for free from Lexham Press in exchange for an honest and thorough review. I was not required to write a positive review
