Jatropha, a resilient and drought-tolerant plant, is gaining popularity for its numerous benefits. This versatile species boasts attractive foliage, vibrant flowers, and the potential for sustainable energy production. Whether you're an experienced gardener or a beginner, Jatropha is an excellent choice for your outdoor space.

Key Features & Benefits

  1. Ornamental Value: Jatropha's unique foliage and colorful flowers make it a stunning addition to any landscape.
  2. Drought Tolerance: This plant thrives in arid conditions, making it ideal for regions with limited water resources.
  3. Medicinal Properties: Certain parts of the Jatropha plant have been used in traditional medicine for various ailments.
  4. Bio-fuel Potential: Jatropha seeds can be processed to produce bio-diesel, a clean and renewable energy source.
  5. Soil Improvement: Jatropha can help improve soil quality by preventing erosion and increasing organic matter.

Plant Care Guide

Ideal Plantation Locations

Jatropha prefers warm, tropical climates with well-drained soil. It can tolerate a wide range of soil types, including sandy and loamy soils.

Planting & Gardening Instructions

  1. Location: Choose a sunny location with ample sunlight.
  2. Soil Preparation: Ensure the soil is well-draining by incorporating organic matter like compost or well-rotted manure.
  3. Planting: Plant the Jatropha seedlings or cuttings at a depth of 6-8 inches.
  4. Spacing: Maintain a spacing of 6-8 feet between plants to allow for proper growth and air circulation.

Watering

Water the plant deeply, but infrequently. Allow the soil to dry out slightly between waterings to prevent root rot.

Fertilizers

Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer during the growing season. Avoid excessive fertilization, as it can lead to nutrient imbalances.

Repotting Instructions

Re-pot your Jatropha every 2-3 years or when the plant becomes root-bound. Choose a slightly larger pot and fresh, well-draining potting mix.

Fruiting Season

Jatropha typically flowers and fruits during the warm, dry season. The exact fruiting season may vary depending on the specific cultivar and climate.

Usage Ideas

  • Ornamental Plant: Use Jatropha as a standalone specimen or in mixed borders.
  • Hedge Plant: Create a dense, low-maintenance hedge with Jatropha.
  • Bio-fuel Production: Harvest the seeds to produce bio diesel.
  • Medicinal Uses: Consult with a healthcare professional before using any part of the plant for medicinal purposes.

Care Tips

  • Pest Control: Monitor for pests like aphids and scale insects. Treat infestations with insecticidal soap or neem oil.
  • Pruning: Prune the plant regularly to maintain its shape and encourage new growth.
  • Mulching: Apply a layer of organic mulch around the base of the plant to help retain moisture and suppress weeds.

Excellent espresso at home, easy and quick to use
Excellent espresso coffee maker. Prepare a coffee with a very good aroma, perfect cream and intense flavor, like from a coffee shop. It is easy to use, heats up quickly and its design is modern and compact. Very good value for money. Totally recommended!

Fine espresso but poor frother
I wanted to like this, but couldn’t. The good: Makes fine espresso. Uses a typical pressurized portofilter, so there’s no skill to it. It can use normal drip coffee grinds. Looks nice. Has timed (albeit short) presets for single and double shots. But… The display is useless. 198 degrees is the temperature shown…but it never changes. No other status is shown. Might as well say “On” The worst part…the FROTHER. It’s not removable. It’s very hard to clean. It’s got a small orifice that doesn’t froth very well. It just makes A LOT of noise. Not good at 5am. The ones with the removable barrel are quieter and foam better. The foam selector is poorly designed. To go from coffee to steam you have to go past “hot water” which you don’t need in your milk. And then you have to stand by for several seconds while it heats up and pressurizes. Other machines have a much simpler switch design that preheats ahead of time and then steams on command. It’s pretty, but other machines work much better

Nice upgrade 51mm for me
Color: Silver
This is my second 51mm machine. I never used the included handle or basket… I kept my existing HUGH IMS precision basket and bottomless portafilter. The temp and preinfusion are set and not adjustable but fine (reduced variables). I defeated the shut off by volume by setting higher than needed (wish that was easier to turn off). I like to manually shut off when I hit 30g on my scale. The machine will drip since there is not solenoid valve so I just pull the scale from the try when mouse tail breaks and drip starts. The steam wand and hot water dispenser is a massive upgrade (from Capresso EC50) and the real reason for my upgrade. I would have paid $50-100 more for the improvements listed… but I guess most people would not so this is about the best option for me with 51mm (keeping all the 51mm three lug portafilter stuff I own). 5 stars = for me and the price

Reliably makes a good cup of coffee!
Color: Rose Golden, Color: Rose Golden
This espresso machine is great. I wanted something simple and reliable and that’s exactly what it is. In fact, the espresso comes out with a nice creamy coffee froth on top and the flavor is excellent. I don’t normally write reviews, but I think this one is worth it and I want them to stay in business because I’ll probably be sending some of these out as gifts come next Christmas.
