With vivid green leaves etched in painterly white veins and blush-pink undersides, the Maranta ‘Cat Moustache’ is a tropical charmer full of character. Its rounded, velvety foliage folds upward at night like hands in prayer—giving it a daily rhythm of movement that’s truly enchanting. This variety gets its quirky name from the unique patterning that resembles a feline’s whiskers—equal parts elegant and adorable.
Perfect for collectors seeking something a little playful but deeply refined, the Cat Moustache Maranta is compact and well-suited for shelves, desktops, or anywhere that could use a botanical statement. As part of the prayer plant family, it brings subtle motion and charm to every room it graces.
| Position | Keep in a bright well-lit area or provide additional light. Avoid heaters and draughty positions. |
| Temperature | Temperatures above 20c will speed up growth, between 10 and 20c growth will be slow and plants can be pruned to keep compact. This Maranta is hardy but will not survive outdoors in cold climates. |
| Water | Water well if kept in pots but sparingly in terrariums, potting mix should be allowed to almost dry between waterings. Keep on the dry side in winter. |
| Fertiliser | Weak dose regularly in warmer months. Only fertilise if you would like the plant to grow. Less fertiliser will keep plants shorter and more compact. |
| Repotting | Only when plant is well advanced in pot or mid-spring. |
| Pet Friendly | Maranta are Pet Friendly |
