This beautifully-designed poster delights with its colorful depictions of vegetables, flowers, and elements of garden life—along with every gardener's least favorite visitor, Jack Frost. But this poster is not just a colorful garden-themed design; it is a tool to help gardeners understand the always tricky topic of timing their seed-starting for their gardens.
Want to know when to start your tomatoes? your onions? your cucumbers? Just determine your last frost date (here's a reference based on your zip code) and then use the guide to figure out how many weeks before or after this date to sow your seeds. The different color background bands correspond to the right timeframes for direct sowing outdoors, starting early indoors, and transplanting out your seedlings. Works anywhere that frost is present, from northern Florida to far-flung Fairbanks.
The whole work, designed by Cynthia Cliff, holds together beautifully—a work of creativity that is also functional and helpful year after year.
Each fine art poster ships via USPS Priority Mail in a tube mailer.
