Create a one-of-a-kind textile character with Scarlett from Afrayed Upcycling, using a curated collection of vintage and reclaimed materials. You’ll work with tea towels, lace, ribbon, vintage fabrics, and found textures, all ready for a new life.

We’ll start like a fashion designer: sketch a simple doll or monster design, explore a few ideas, then choose your favourite to bring to life. Scarlett provides a ready-to-use body base, then you’ll build your character by cutting, layering and assembling fabrics, almost like collage, but with cloth.

No sewing confidence? No problem. You can use simple hand-stitching, fabric glue, or a mix of both. You’ll be guided step-by-step, with lots of creative freedom to make a quirky monster, a doll, or a brand new “friend”.

Kids leave feeling genuinely proud, with a finished piece to take home, continue adding to, and show off. Recommend age 7 upwards however get in touch for younger kids to find out if the class might be suitable.
