Bring the Tropics Indoors With this Viney Plant

The Rhaphidophora Tetrasperma Mini Monstera, also known as Philodendron Piccolo, is a tropical vining plant like its cousin the Monstera Deliciosa.

This species in the Araceae family is a great houseplant given proper conditions. The bright green leaves are great for indoor decor and it’s split leaves will bring a one of a kind look. It is very similar to the larger M. deliciosa plant but has smaller leaves and doesn’t produce fruit. Many have dubbed it the ‘mini monstera plant’.

Grow this plant anywhere in your home with plenty of bright light and humidity. It looks great in bedrooms, home offices, bathrooms, and patios. Bring a jungle vibe to your home today!

RHAPHIDOPHORA TETRASPERMA CARE TIPS

You can grow these tropical plants indoors or outdoors in USDA zones 10-11, where there is high humidity just like in its endemic environment. The best medium for Tetrasperma Rhaphidophora is a well-draining potting mix amended with peat moss. The best soil mix for Rhaphidophora Tetrasperma should be nutrient-dense for the best growing results. You can fertilize your Tetrasperma annually with a slow-release fertilizer to help provide extra nutrition. Another good option is our very own Perfect Plants Liquid Fertilizer for Indoor Plants.

Rhaphidophora Tetrasperma’s light requirement is bright indirect light with protection from the hot sun. Direct light will scorch the leaves and cause them to turn brown. We recommend at least 4-6 hours of indirect sunlight to keep your vining plant happy and healthy! A south facing window is a great location.

You can use a Rhaphidophora Tetrasperma trellis or moss pole to help the vining plant climb upwards! As it grows, it will reach towards the sunlight and produces aerial roots along the stems to help attach to surfaces. A unique sight to see!

Watering Rhaphidophora Tetrasperma

Rhaphidophora Tetrasperma watering should take place whenever the top inch of potting soil feels dry to touch about 1 inch down. Don’t overwater or underwater as this can greatly harm the plant and potentially cause root rot. A typical watering schedule could be every 1-2 weeks but it highly depends on the temperature, sunlight, and moisture where it is being grown. Be sure to choose a pot with a drainage hole.

You will need to repot Rhaphidophora Tetrasperma during the growing season whenever it outgrows the pot it’s currently growing in. This will ensure the root system has plenty of space and soil to grow into. While repotting your plant, check it’s root system to ensure a healthy tetrasperma plant. The ideal repotting timeframe is around every 1-2 years but can vary based on the environment it is grown in.

Prune the tropical vine as needed and save your clippings for propagating Rhapidophora Tetrasperma. Just place a clipping with a healthy node in a glass of water, and watch roots grow. These Tetrasperma cuttings make great gifts for friends, family, and other houseplant lovers.

This plant is especially quick and easy to grow which makes it perfect for house plant enthusiasts, beginners, and everyone in between!

Good stuff, but watch the temp
Model: NewSLS50_52
I used this in my single cab pickup truck (89 ford.) It only took half the box (10 sheets or 25 square feet) to do the floors, but I bought the big box because I plan to do the doors, back wall, and maybe the roof as well. One thing I learned is that the temperature matters when you’re doing the installation. It was around 55F when I started in the evening, and when it dipped down into the 40s the sheets would not stick to the metal, and were hard to compress with the roller. That’s why I ended up only doing the floors and not any vertical surfaces; i will have to wait for a nice hot day. The other thing is that the foil layer on top is razor sharp at the edges, definitely wear gloves! I didn’t notice until after but I have little papercuts all over my fingers. Aside from those things, the install was easy and straightforward. The sheets cut easily with scissors, and any goo that ends up on your hands or scissors can be cleaned up with acetone (nail polish remover), or lacquer thinner. I would use this stuff again.

This will work but prep is key!
I have an older RV that the gelcoat has dulled and is oxidized, but otherwise in good shape. I have buffed and polished in the past only for it to last a short time. I was looking up different products to try and this one has such good reviews, I thought I would give it a try. I bought the kit with the Poliglow and the Poliprep, with the scrubber and the microfiber glove. I started with the poliprep and it did a great job of gettting the streaks and black marks off. You spend a lot of time scrubbing to your likeness because anything that is still on the gelcoat when you apply the poliglow, it will be locked in there. The Poliglow is like a clearcoat that goes over the gelcoat. You have to build up layers and here are some of the tips and tricks I figured out that really helped my finished RV look great. First, make sure the applicator stays damp, this keeps the poliglow more uniform across the glove. Also, stick it in a zip lock bag when not using, you do not want it to dry out while you are using it. I found out that applying this in direct sunlight in warm temps, is the best method. This allows the poliglow to dry really fast. The first 3 or 4 layers will look streaky and dull but this is ok and as you build up the layers, the shine will come back. I found if you do this when its cooler, the layers do not dry as quick and you will get some permanent streaking or running. I had to remove a section I did in the evening because I noticed this. When in direct sunlight, this gave me the best results with no streaking or running. It dries fast and you can keep working. Like it says, do not do big sections at a time, keep it to small what you can reach sections and build those up and move on. As far as how much to buy? I have a 40 ft toy hauler and I got to kits and I had just enough to finish the whole thing minus the nose cap. I have Durabak on the nose cap, so I dont need to worry about that. I ended up buying one more bottle of the poliglow to have for my maintenance coats. Overall, I am pleased with how my 10 year old RV looks and other than some of the decals show age, it looks new again. If I were to buy a new RV, I would put this on right away and preserve the whole RV including the decals. Its not too expensive and its a lot of work, especially the prep, but it does end up with great results.

Excellent shine
Excellent line of products. Looking at the picture, you can see what the camper looked like before the Poli Glow. To the left of the window is the after Poli Glow. It takes some elbow grease (follow instructions well) but well worth it.

Camping enthusiast approved
One bottle covered my 20ft camping trailer 4 coats and with a little remaining for future touch ups. It definitely increases the gloss. I'm glad I didn't waste my time with wax. This is like an easy wipe on clear coat. I will report back in the future for longevity.
