Hedera Helix, commonly known as English Ivy, is one of the most iconic trailing and climbing plants you can grow in a closed terrarium. Its distinctive lobed leaves create a lush, woodland terrarium atmosphere in any planted setup instantly transforming even the simplest arrangement into a miniature forest scene. Native to Europe and Western Asia, this classic English Ivy terrarium plant thrives in the humid conditions of a closed terrarium, where its natural climbing habit allows it to cover surfaces, cascade over rocks, and weave through any arrangement with effortless grace.
A Natural Climber in a Closed Terrarium
Hedera Helix terrarium setups are where this plant truly shines. It loves consistent humidity and grows beautifully in indirect light, making it one of the most versatile terrarium plants available. As a fast growing terrarium plant, it will quickly fill your setup with lush green foliage, creating a dense, living woodland landscape over time. You can give it something to climb, wood, cork bark, or moss, and watch it transform your terrarium into a woodland paradise.
A Classic Houseplant Too
Outside of a terrarium, English Ivy makes a timeless ivy houseplant for shelves, hanging baskets, and windowsills. It tolerates low light and cooler temperatures better than most houseplants, making it one of the easiest and most adaptable indoor plants available. Water moderately, allowing the top layer of soil to dry between waterings.
A Gift With Character
For terrarium enthusiasts and plant lovers alike, Hedera Helix is a gift that never goes out of style. Its timeless woodland charm and effortless climbing habit make it a plant people fall in love with instantly. Perfect for birthdays, housewarmings, or anyone building their first terrarium.
