Anthurium Obsidian Butterfly x Dressleri
This listing is for seedlings from our Anthurium Obsidian Butterfly x Dressleri cross. The seedlings have established well and are currently at the 2–4 leaf stage, showing strong growth and excellent potential.
The mother plant is Anthurium Obsidian Butterfly, a distinctive NoID plant known for its dark foliage, cherry-red emergents and striking venation. The name Obsidian Butterfly was chosen through a small competition on our Instagram page, with the winning entry submitted by Amy (@celtic.aroids). The name draws inspiration from an Aztec goddess said to take the form of a skeletal red moth, a fitting reference to the plant’s mysterious and dramatic appearance.
The pollen donor is Anthurium Dressleri, acquired as a mature mother plant at the Bangkok Plant Show. It was carefully selected from many available plants for its form, presence and overall quality. Dressleri is highly regarded for its bold structure and character, making it an excellent pairing with the dark and colourful Obsidian Butterfly.
Both the mother plant and the pollen donor are shown in the pictures, giving a clear indication of the genetics behind this cross. A promising hybrid combining deep colour, strong venation and classic Dressleri influence.
