With its shiny green leaves and delicate white flowers, Beach Creeper (Ernodea littoralis) makes a gorgeous dense groundcover or container plant. Its trailing habit also accents hanging baskets beautifully.
How to Grow
Grow in full sun to partial shade. Keep soil evenly moist, allowing the top inch to dry out between waterings. Pinch back tips to encourage bushiness. Shear back as needed to refresh growth.
Care Tips
Water when the top inch of soil becomes dry. Mist leaves occasionally. Fertilize monthly with a balanced liquid fertilizer during the growing season. Bring containers indoors before frost.
Uses
Beach Creeper shines trailing from hanging baskets, window boxes, and mixed containers. It also makes a lush groundcover or border plant in the garden.
Planting Tips
Space 12-18 inches apart in well-draining soil. Dig a hole twice the container width and backfill with soil. Water thoroughly after planting. Use quality potting mix for containers.
Maintenance
Pinch back tips regularly to encourage fullness. Shear back as needed to refresh growth. Repot container plants annually in spring.
Pests & Diseases
Watch for aphids and spider mites. Improve air flow around plants. Control pests with horticultural oils or insecticidal soap sprays. Prevent root rot by avoiding overwatering.
