Description: Leeks are biennial plants that are grown as annuals for their edible, elongated stems, known as "leeks." They have a cylindrical shape with a white, tender base that gradually transitions into green, leafy tops. The edible portion of the leek is the lower part of the stem, while the upper, dark green leaves are typically tougher and less desirable for culinary use. Leeks have a milder flavor compared to onions and garlic, making them a popular ingredient in soups, stews, and other savory dishes.

Size: The size of leeks can vary depending on the variety and growing conditions. On average, leeks can grow to lengths of 6 to 12 inches (15 to 30 centimeters) with a diameter of 1 to 2 inches (2.5 to 5 centimeters) at maturity. Some varieties may produce larger or smaller leeks, and the size can also be influenced by factors such as soil fertility, spacing, and watering.

Best Growing Zones: Leeks are cold-hardy biennials that are typically grown as annuals in USDA hardiness zones 7 through 10. They thrive in cool to moderate temperatures and are relatively tolerant of frost. Leeks prefer well-drained, fertile soil with a pH level between 6.0 and 7.0. They can be grown in full sun to partial shade but prefer cooler temperatures, especially during the growing season.

Soil Requirements: Leeks prefer loose, well-drained soil with plenty of organic matter. They perform best in soil that is rich in nutrients and has a slightly acidic to neutral pH level. Amending the soil with compost or well-rotted manure before planting can improve soil fertility and structure, promoting healthy leek growth. Leeks have shallow root systems and require consistent moisture throughout the growing season, but they do not tolerate waterlogged soil.

Planting and Care: Leeks are typically started from seeds indoors in early spring and transplanted into the garden once the soil has warmed and the danger of frost has passed. They can also be direct seeded in the garden, but this method may result in slower and less uniform germination. Leeks should be spaced 6 to 8 inches (15 to 20 centimeters) apart in rows with 12 to 18 inches (30 to 45 centimeters) between rows. They benefit from regular watering and should be kept consistently moist but not waterlogged. Leeks are relatively low-maintenance plants and require minimal care beyond regular watering and occasional fertilization.

Harvesting: Leeks can be harvested when they reach a desirable size, typically about 2 inches (5 centimeters) in diameter. The entire plant can be harvested by gently loosening the soil around the base of the stem and pulling the leek out of the ground. Alternatively, individual leeks can be harvested as needed by cutting them off at ground level with a sharp knife or scissors. Leeks can be stored in the refrigerator for several weeks or preserved by freezing or drying.

Quality product for the right dog...
Color: Orange
Honestly it's a really cool product well constructed and moves around on its own with several different modes. The design id brilliant with a tough rubber ball that unscrew to expose the element that makes it move in the middle. The dog won't be able to unscrew it but you can if you ever need to replace the ball for any reason but it would take some work for a dog to destroy the outer ball. Almost like "Kong" type material. The ball is about the size of a softball and the element inside is about the size of a golf ball. I thought my dog would love this but she was afraid of it, which is strange because she's afraid of nothing. Anyways I gave it to my neighbor upstairs and she has a yorkshire terrier who plays with it all the time so it all worked out great. Quality product . Good job!

Thought it was a good idea but not for my dog
Color: Blue
Seemed great but my dog continued to bark at it. Finally she hid it and I haven’t looked for it.

Durability

won’t give this product 1 star because my dog still had a good time with it for a few hours. After opening and preparing it, I gave it to my dog and it definitely caught his interest. However, when he chewed on it, plastic pieces started breaking off and he began swallowing them. This product is definitely not suitable for aggressive chewers.

Winner !!!
Color: Orange
This amazed us. For perspective, we're talking about a three year old white german shepherd who if he's in the mood, has and can kill a toy within minutes or oddly enough be gentle with furry balls and carry them around as if they are his babies. He's an odd duck. Anyway, since he was a pup, and to this day, he'll play and entertain himself, he'll grab a ball, throw it up in the air, then pounce on it as if it's from outer space. It's really quite cute and funny. Because of those two things I was looking for something interactive that would entertain him and confuse him....let's be honest, watching a confused dog is one of life's great pleasures. I tried two other interactive balls and they were crushed immediately. After reading a lot of reviews, people with german shepherds said this ball actually had a life span. I thought the third time could be the charm and ordered one. Well, I think it actually may be from outer space because he's obsessed with it and hasn't taken a bite out of it. He hasn't once chewed it or even teared little pieces off. The three settings are great. Sometimes he likes one better than another, then forgets about the others. I'll change it up to one he hasn't seen in a while and the whole game starts over again. He'll throw it up in the air as he does with his others, watch it and try to figure out which way it's going to go. And yes, he will pounce on it if he times it right. The size is perfect, it's heavier than your average ball but, that's what make it sturdy. I have to sneak it away when he isn't paying attention to charge it, otherwise he'll sit, stare and cry if he knows it's on the counter charging. It's a lot of fun for all of us. I'm so happy I bought it...... I say give this ball a chance even if you have a beast with killer instincts. I'm buying another for a friends 2 year old golden retriever granddog. Thank you Cheerble.

Great toy to occupy pet

This ball is super fast, and lasts very long on one charge. It really keeps my cat entertained, he’s just so curious about it. It’s easy to pick out dust any hair it might catch on, it’s rubber material is durable. It’s a stable toy since my cat likes to play roughly.
