Aglaonema 'Koh Sumai' is a striking and ornamental cultivar known for its vibrant, variegated foliage that features a blend of deep green, silver, and cream-colored markings. The leaves have a glossy, smooth texture, with the silvery streaks often appearing in unique, irregular patterns across the surface, giving the plant a sophisticated and dynamic look. This variety is well-suited for low to medium light conditions and is relatively low-maintenance, requiring only moderate watering to thrive. Its compact growth habit and attractive foliage make Koh Sumai a popular choice for both homes and offices, adding a touch of tropical elegance and color to indoor spaces with minimal care.

1. Light

  • Ideal Light: Aglaonema 'Moonstone' thrives in medium to bright indirect light. It can tolerate lower light conditions but may grow more slowly and lose some of its vibrant coloring.
  • Avoid: Direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves and lead to fading or brown spots.

2. Watering

  • Watering Schedule: Water the plant when the top 1-2 inches of soil feel dry. It's important not to overwater, as Aglaonemas are sensitive to root rot.
  • Watering Method: Water thoroughly, but ensure the pot has good drainage. Empty any excess water from the saucer to prevent the roots from sitting in water.
  • Humidity: Aglaonemas prefer moderate to high humidity, so misting the leaves or using a humidity tray can help, especially in dry indoor environments.

3. Temperature

  • Ideal Range: Aglaonema 'Moonstone' prefers temperatures between 65°F and 80°F (18°C - 27°C). Avoid placing it in areas that experience cold drafts or temperatures below 60°F (15°C), as it can cause stress to the plant.

4. Soil

  • Best Soil Type: Use well-draining, lightweight potting mix. A standard indoor potting mix with some added perlite or sand for extra drainage is ideal.
  • Repotting: Repot when the plant outgrows its current pot or if the soil becomes compacted. Typically, Aglaonemas are slow-growers, so repotting may not be necessary every year.

5. Fertilizing

  • Fertilization Schedule: Feed your Aglaonema 'Moonstone' every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced, water-soluble houseplant fertilizer diluted to half strength.
  • Winter Care: Reduce or stop fertilizing in fall and winter, as the plant's growth slows down.

6. Pruning

  • Cleaning: Wipe the leaves occasionally with a damp cloth to remove dust and keep them shiny. This also helps prevent pests from hiding on the leaves.
  • Cutting Back: If the plant becomes too leggy or if you want to control its shape, prune any unwanted stems back. You can also cut off any yellowing or damaged leaves.

7. Pests and Problems

  • Common Pests: Watch out for common houseplant pests like spider mites, aphids, and mealybugs. If you see small, discolored spots or webbing, check your plant closely and treat with insecticidal soap or neem oil.
  • Yellowing Leaves: Yellow leaves can indicate overwatering or inconsistent watering, especially if the soil stays too wet. Ensure proper drainage and check your watering habits.

This is the one.
Size: 58.3mm, Color: Black
As an el Supremo Coffee Geek, I've wasted money on lots of different tampers. Save your money and buy this one or it's equivalent. This thing is heavy duty, solid, well-made, self-leveling, tamps at 30 pounds and is fool-proof even for fools. Also, it's a palm tamper meaning more fun and more satisfying to use as you prep the puck for your morning buzz. Buy it. You will thank me.

Super easy to use and takes the guess-work out of getting even pressure on the grounds
Size: 58.3mm, Color: Black, Size: 58.3mm, Color: Black
I have been using a hand tamper for many years and have a good idea of the pressure I am applying to the grounds in the portafilter. I honestly considered spring tampers to be a bit silly. But this tamper really does take the guess-work out of pressing the coffee grounds. The shroud helps guide the press so that pressure is applied even and flat across the surface. With the manual tamper, there will be some play when pressing, or some unevenness in pressure. This is especially true when cranking out many espressos during a breakfast party with friends. Having the spring tamper makes quick work of turning out a lot of coffees with consistency. There are no instructions for taking this tamper apart to clean inside, and you may not really need to do that very often. After each use, just pull back the shroud (the black piece that moves up and down) and wipe off the tamper (the shiny steel part). This will help prevent grounds from working their way inside. If you do want to take it apart, it’s easy. Pull back the shroud and unscrew the tamper. It will come apart into three pieces. Wipe the pieces off and reassemble. Super quick and easy. This tamper is very heavy. My scale shows 656 g (about a pound and a half). It fits the portafilter exactly, with no slop. Just place on top of grounds and press!. Don’t even worry about pressure, just push down all the way. Overall I had fun using this tamper versus my manual one. And since I make myself a cappuccino very early in the morning, I don’t have to be very awake to get a good pack on the grounds and get my coffee fast!

Good size
This works for most of the items (powder like cinnamon or beet root, etc.0 i need it for. I would like to have one that is 50 oz. It is airtight and a great product but I'm not convinced pumping it 20-30 times really helps.

Good product/unsure of air seal
We love this to hold our coffee beans, but we aren’t sure if it truly seals air out. It seems to work great though and our beans taste fresh!
