Description

tezula plants fertilizer Tezula Chunky Airy Orchid/Aroid Mix #5 - (Tree Fern, Coco Husk, OrchiaThis is a high oxygen, canopy grade epiphyte mix engineered for sustained structural openness. It maintains air space whether wet or dry, with minimal but sufficient moisture buffering to keep roots active without stagnation. This is a performance substrate designed for experienced growers who actively manage nutrition and understand airwater balance. Think upper canopy root zoneswhere water arrives fast, drains fast, and roots breathe constantly.

This is a high-oxygen, canopy-grade epiphyte mix engineered for sustained structural openness.

It maintains air space whether wet or dry, with minimal but sufficient moisture buffering to keep roots active without stagnation. This is a performance substrate designed for experienced growers who actively manage nutrition and understand air–water balance.

Think upper canopy root zones—where water arrives fast, drains fast, and roots breathe constantly.

This mix is built for collector-level orchid and aroid growing, not casual houseplant care.

COMPONENTS

(Meticulously blended to work harmoniously with each other)

Orchiata Bark – Structural backbone. Long-lasting, microbially stable. Controls airflow and prevents collapse.
Tree Fern Fiber – Moisture adhesion without saturation. Excellent root grip; slows dry-down just enough to prevent stress.
Coconut Husk – Chunky internal water reservoir. Adds resilience against missed waterings without filling pore space.
Perlite – Permanent macropores. Maintains oxygen even at full saturation.
Sphagnum Moss – Strategic moisture buffer and mild acidity. Used deliberately, not as a bulk component.
Charcoal – EC moderation, toxin adsorption, microbial balance. Structurally inert.
Biochar – Long-term ion exchange and microbial habitat. Acts as a stabilizer, not a fertilizer.

WHO THIS MIX IS FOR

This mix is designed for plants that require maximum airflow, long-term structural stability, and frequent wet–dry cycling without collapse.

Best suited for:

  • Epiphytic and hemiepiphytic aroids

  • Collector Anthurium (velvet-leaf, strap-leaf, species-level types)

  • Climbing aroids with thick, exploratory roots

  • Air-loving orchids that fail in moisture-retentive media

  • Mature plants grown large and slow

  • Growers who fertilize weakly and frequently

This mix excels where oxygen matters more than water retention, and where structure must persist over time.

NON-NEGOTIABLE RULES FOR SUCCESS

  • Pot size must be tight. Excess volume = dry, inactive roots.

  • Water thoroughly to runoff every time. No partial watering.

  • Fertilize weakly and frequently. There is no nutrient reserve.

  • Best used in vented, rigid, or porous pots—not shallow cache pots.

  • Low-humidity environments require more frequent watering.

This is not a forgiving mix. It rewards attention and consistency.

PLANTS THAT DO WELL IN THIS MIX

Anthurium (velvet-leaf types), Anthurium (strap-leaf types), Anthurium (most epiphytic and hemiepiphytic species), Philodendron melanochrysum, Philodendron verrucosum, Philodendron micans, Philodendron squamiferum, Philodendron gloriosum (grown airy and not kept wet), Monstera deliciosa, Monstera adansonii, Monstera siltepecana, Rhaphidophora decursiva, Rhaphidophora tetrasperma, Epipremnum pinnatum, Scindapsus treubii, Hoya (mature plants)

Orchids:
Cattleya alliance, Oncidium alliance, Encyclia, Brassavola, Dendrobium (epiphytic types), Phalaenopsis (hybrids; requires thorough, regular watering), Vanilla planifolia (climbing phase)

BEST ENVIRONMENT

Humid, warm environments
(tropical interiors, greenhouses, grow rooms)

Can be used in lower humidity only with increased watering frequency.

Entertaining, informative, without being overwhelming.
Format: Hardcover, Format: Hardcover
Got it for, basically, half-off standard retail. At that price, it's a fine addition to the WWII library. Some interesting information displayed in a mostly entertaining way. I get that battle maps are always a challenge (maps are static - battles are dynamic). This does a fairly adequate job - better than most battle maps - though far from groundbreaking. item arrived well packed - no issues with binding (as some others seem to report). Though the book overall is a bit "warped" and several of the maps are mis-printed or mis-cut as to make them unusable. 3 bad out of 300 - not horrible - again at the price I paid. If the subject interest you - I'd suggest getting - but not a "must have".
