Chamaecyparis lawsoniana ‘Ellwoodii’, commonly called Ellwoodii Cypress or Lawson Cypress, is a compact, upright conifer admired for its soft, feathery sprays of silver-blue to steel-blue foliage. With its dense, columnar form and cool-toned colour, this evergreen brings year-round elegance to patios, entryways, and indoor holiday displays. Its foliage is semi-juvenile, giving it a soft, touchable texture, and is often compared to Chamaecyparis lawsoniana ‘Ellwood's Empire’—though ‘Empire’ shows medium blue-green coloring with bright lime or yellow-green new tips in spring, while Ellwoodii Cypress maintains a more consistent blue-silver tone year-round. Hardy, tidy, and slow-growing, Ellwoodii Cypress is an excellent choice for container gardening or small landscape spaces.
