  • Mix of shapes and colors for a diverse assortment of stemmed and rosette succulents
  • Grow outdoors almost anywhere: Frost and cold hardy to at least -20F, low maintenance, and drought tolerant for year-round outdoor growing
  • Countless uses: Rock gardens, container plantings, favors, mini gardens, and much more
  • Detailed care guide included: We'll help you get started even if you're new to succulents
  • Ready to plant: Well-established roots make these plants simple to transplant and easy to grow. Plants can be kept in original pots for several weeks with proper care

PLEASE NOTE: Colors and varieties will be similar to photo, but may vary depending on the season.

GROWING INFO

  • Climate: Zone 5+ (-20F). Protect from heavy rain
  • Where to Grow: Hardy succulents thrive outdoors in full sun with afternoon shade. Good for both containers and in-ground. Long-term indoor growing is possible in areas with many hours of direct sun, but greening and stretching is likely
  • Acclimation: Allow about 2 weeks to gradually transition from bright shade to full sun after delivery
  • Transplanting: We recommend transplanting within 1-2 weeks. If necessary, plants can stay in original pots for several weeks with proper care
  • Soil: Use gritty, well-draining soil to promote root growth and minimize rot, e.g. a cactus or succulent potting mix from your local garden center
  • Watering: Water deeply and only when the soil is completely dry. Actual frequency varies by location, container, soil, and season
  • Containers: Use any kind of container, but drainage holes are recommended
  • Propagation: Propagate rosettes by removing offsets (chicks) and transplanting; propagate stemmed succulents from stem cuttings
  • Color: Hardy succulents often change color with the seasons; peak color is often in spring and fall
  • Blooms: Sempervivum usually bloom every 2-5 years. Bloom stalk is 6"-12" tall with multiple pink flowers. Once a mature "hen" blooms it dies, but the "chicks" it produced carry on for future years. Sedum can bloom every year, in spring, summer, or fall depending on species

Such a fun book in the series. Gilbert is back and having another fun (mildly sarcastic) adventure. Love reading these to my kids. They enjoy them and I find some humor in them.

Another fun title in this series!
Format: Hardcover
This book (and the other two in this series) are constantly checked out at my elementary school library! I love using these books to teach about opinion writing. The kids love the humor and illustrations! They’re great read-alouds too!
