Growth Pattern: Very unusual flattened, segmented green stems with elongated somewhat arrow shaped leaves that are severely tapered where they connect. Mature Size: Typically a small bushy shrub, but capable of 6' in native conditions. More commonly they remain no larger than 3'-4' high and wide. Attributes: Excellent, novelty houseplant. Extremely resilient to poor treatment, neglect, light frosts. Curiously copious quantities of miniscule yellowish flowers followed by pinhead sized brilliantly red berries. Pot: 3.5" or 4" |
Centipede plant, Ribbon bush or Tapeworm plant are common names, Homalocladium platycladum or Meuhlenbeckia platyclada, is related to rhubarb and buckwheat though appearances do not make that apparent! It is as attractive as it is unique. Unusual, hard to find.
