The Dracaena marginata 'Magenta', also known as the Madagascar Dragon Tree, is a sleek and modern houseplant with sword-like leaves edged in vibrant magenta tones. Its bold colour and upright growth habit bring vertical drama to any room, making it a popular choice for minimal and contemporary spaces. Easy to grow and tolerant of a range of conditions, this dragon tree is perfect for beginners or anyone looking to add a splash of colour without the fuss.

Key Features:

Size: Can eventually reach 6–10 feet (180–300 cm) indoors.

Growth: It has a tall, narrow profile and develops a tree-like shape over time. Dracaena marginata grows slowly.

Pet Friendliness:

This plant is not pet-friendly. It contains compounds that can be toxic if ingested by cats, dogs, and other pets. Keep it out of reach of pets and small children.

Care Instructions:

Light: Prefers bright, indirect light but is tolerant of lower light conditions. Avoid prolonged direct sun, which may scorch the leaves.

Watering: Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil are dry. Dracaena dislike soggy roots, so make sure the pot has drainage.

Humidity: Average household humidity is sufficient. Increase humidity during dry winter months if leaf tips brown.

Temperature: Thrives in 18°C–26°C. Keep away from cold drafts and temps below 12°C.

Soil: Use a well-draining potting mix. A general-purpose indoor plant mix works well.

Fertilizer: Feed once a month during spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer. No need to fertilize in winter.

Pruning: Remove any yellowing or browning leaves by cutting close to the stem. You can also trim the top to encourage branching.

Repotting: Repot every 2–3 years or when roots outgrow the container.

Pro Tip: Dracaena are sensitive to fluoride and salts in tap water—use filtered water for best results.
